Folks always enjoy pictures we take of life in Nigeria especially road pictures. I wish we could capture the essence of really being there but this is about as close as I can get.
Keep in mind that all of these are iPhone pictures taken from a moving van through the window glass. They are no where near perfect pictures.
There were several things we did not get a picture of until it was too late. For instance we saw several interesting things being carried on motorcycle taxis.
Passengers were carrying everything from goats to 10 foot pieces of rebar. We even saw one motorcycle taxi with six people on it including the baby strapped onto the back of the last woman.
I did manage to snap a picture of a passenger carrying a mattress. It was pretty amazing.
I hope you enjoy all these pictures we took on the road in Nigeria.

Update: There was a comment on this post that I have not published. The commenter implied that I was showing only the bad side of Nigeria and was neglecting the more beautiful parts of Nigeria.
That could not be any further from the truth. I love the country of Nigeria and the people of Nigeria. It is a beautiful place. I posted pictures in this post of places where we drove. These are pictures we took. This is what we saw of the country.
We spent most of our time in Abeokuta and Ibadan. If we had been in Abuja or some other city I am sure the pictures would be different. The commenter suggested I post pictures from more affluent areas of Nigeria. But if I did not see those areas how could I photograph them.
These are the roads we drove on. These are the people we encountered and interacted with. These are the Nigerians that came to our services and prayed in the altars. They live and walk in these streets. This is their home we were trying to photograph.
We have went to Nigeria three times because we love these people. We love them right where they are. We love them right in their cities. We are thankful to be invited to Abeokuta and Ibadan to meet and minister to these precious people. We mean no harm to them at all.
