I Love Cheeseburgers

Hey, Friends!

It is Odie writing again today. I hope you have had a good week and you are surviving this long winter. Thankfully, in this part of Mississippi we have escaped the snow. We can bundle up and make it through the rain.

We  had a great week. It was fun being with our friends at White Plains Holiness Assembly! I am so thankful for the power of God we felt in each service.

Last night we attended the Wild Game Supper at First Assembly in Ellisville, Mississippi. We had a blast with our friends last night. It was a fundraiser for their school and was a lot of fun and good food too. I am sure that Dad will post some pictures of all the fun and food next week.

I am anticipating a wonderful weekend in Richton, Mississippi. We always look forward to services with Pastor Scott Morris and the congregation of First Assembly. You never know what might happen!

It is not too late to join us this coming week for March Meeting in Semmes, Alabama. I look forward to joining with many friends this week in Campmeeting on the Allentown Holiness Church grounds. It will begin Tuesday morning and last until Friday night. Come be in service with us if you can. We always leave there with our spiritual batteries charged.

Our family has been on a diet since September 1, 2013. Cheeseburgers and pizza are two of our favorite food we have cut out. Pizza is mine and Mom's favorite food and cheeseburgers are Dad's favorite. My parents have not eaten any pizza during that time. I have caved a few times. I did make one whole year between indulging my pizza craving.  Dad says it has been one year six months and seven days since he has eaten a cheeseburgers. Mom has had one, and I have had two burgers in all that time.

The first one I had was at Sis. Joan Morris' table in November 2013. She told me I had to eat what she put on my plate. You can not go against Grandmama Joan. Lol. Then in October of 2014 in California Pastor Deatherage took us to In-N-Out. I took it as a sign that it was OK for me to eat my favorite California burger.  Now I am trying to stay on the no burger wagon until Dad makes it to Ron's in Tulsa, Oklahoma. If you are new to the blog you can read some of Dad's posts about his favorite burger place at the following link. Ron's Hamburger and Chili is our favorite.

A few weeks ago Mom and I went through McDonald's drive thru for a drink. The attendant asked if we wanted a Quarter Pounder Meal. We answered a quick no, but inside I was screaming YES!!!!!  I was in Cheeseburger withdrawal.

I had a flashback to when I was 7 or 8 years old. I thought McDonald's only served cheeseburgers, chicken nuggets and fries to eat. Mom and Dad always ordered for me and so I always had cheeseburgers, chicken nuggets and fries. Around that time my uncle Tommy took me to McDonald's. I told him to order for me. This is what I got.

That is a beautiful Quarter Pounder with Cheese. I ate every bite of the sandwich. It definitely broadened my horizons on McDonald's food. It also started a craving that has never died.

In full disclosure, I tried to convince Mom that I need to eat a Quarter Pounder for old times sake and so I could have pictures for a blog. Mom said, "that is why you have Google."

This is my uncle Tommy Boggs.

We are not really all that far apart in age. In our younger days we fought like cats and dogs but when I look back now, he really spoiled me a lot. I enjoyed every moment of it including my first Quarter Pounder.

Thanks, Uncle Tommy, for sharing your love of food with me. It is still something we have in common today. I really do appreciate all the little things you have done for me along the way.  I love my memories of our adventures.  I apologize for ever being mean to you!!  I love you!!

Have a wonderful weekend.

Odie
