#28 Weekend Woundup and Weview

I will go all the way back to Wednesday to bring you up to date on our wonderful weekend.

I worked on a barn project Wednesday morning and then Kelly Jo took me for a very nice lunch to celebrate our anniversary. We have never been real particular about celebrating birthdays and anniversaries on the actual dates because our schedule often makes that impossible. We are OK with that and we get to it when we can.

Wednesday we could and did! The lunch was fantastic and the company was even better! Thank you, Kelly Jo! I would rather spend time with you than anyone else in the world.

Wednesday night we walked all the way to church. I would tell you it was six miles up hill both ways in 12 inches of snow, but it is July and you would never believe it was cold enough for snow!

Pastor Kelly Rogers had asked me to preach Wednesday night at Dodds so that is exactly what I did. We had a great service and a wonderful response to the preaching. I appreciate Pastor Rogers and the Dodds church always receiving us with open arms.

It was good to be in church with every one there but especially good to be in church with my brother Steve.

Near the end of service, Bro. Jimmie Radcliffe pulled in. It was great to be reunited with Bro. Jimmie. We parted ways Friday night after OKC and we missed him the last five days. You can see our tent trailer behind Bro. Jimmie's. It looks like we are starting a circus.

I mentioned Friday that Bro. Jimmie and I went up and mowed part of the tent site Thursday morning. After lunch the mowing theme continued and I mowed the grass at the Lazy OD Ranch. Mowing is not my favorite activity but you do what you have to do in order to get the job done. At least with mowing you can easily see the great improvement when the task is completed. If only it would last more than 2-3 days!

Thursday night we went to home church at Dryden Rd. It was our first service home since Sunday morning January 3rd. It was a treat to see a bunch of our folks and to worship at home!

Friday we finished preparing to move onto the tent site in Dayton. Kelly Jo pulled the BoggsMobile out of the barn and a few minutes later we were gone.

I went to Flying J above Dayton to empty the holding tanks and fill up with diesel. I pulled onto the tent site a little before 5:00 PM. After figuring out where we wanted the tent, we went about laying out the stake line and marking it all with orange paint. Then the fun began.

There was no way to drive the tent stakes with a sledge hammer in the gravel, old concrete and whatever else is below the surface. All thirty two stakes had to be drilled. I have a big Bosch Rotary Hammer Drill and a 36 inch by 1 inch concrete bit. This is where a little extra weight to "lean in" comes in very handy!

Kelly Jo even got in on the act.

I like this picture that Kelly Jo snapped Friday evening.

Saturday morning we had a great crew show up from several churches and before you knew it the tent was in the air!

We are set up on gravel so we had to put tarps down first to protect the tent. That slows things down some but we were still finished with the main part of the work in less than 2 hours and 20 minutes.

Kelly Jo, Bro. Jimmie and I had a steady flow of visitors stop by as we sat with the tent the rest of Saturday, Saturday night and Sunday. I believe that we are exactly where we need to be for this revival. I am very excited about what God is going to do.

Sunday night Pastor McGuire and the Rt. 4 church and Pastor Sutherland and the Dryden Rd. church dismissed their regular services and turned out in a great number. We had folks from other churches and most importantly we had people from right here in the community. We had three people praying for salvation and we are very thankful for that. Praise God for His help!

I put the word out Saturday, Sunday morning and Sunday evening for churches and friends to hold us up in prayer concerning the service Sunday night. They prayed and God heard and answered their prayers! I can not wait to see what God is going to do the next five nights of City Reach Dayton!

Thanks for reading.

Davy
