City Reach Nashville

I mentioned in Monday's post that City Reach Nashville was on the cancellation bubble due to location issues. I shared the details which I will paste below for those that might have missed it. I have been hoping the other location would open up but nothing has changed. We are now at the point where getting the proper permits in time would be nearly impossible even if a great tent location magically appeared out of thin air.

So I am sadly canceling City Reach Nashville. It hate it so bad. I am trying my very best to hang on to the words that Pastor Israel Sanders sent to me. "God always knows when to open and when to close the right doors. So keep your hand on the knob and when He turns it, push and when He has it locked, be content!"

God knows that Kelly Jo and I have tried our very best to follow through on our desire to hold a City Reach campaign in Nashville. We have made three separate multi-day trips to Nashville, trying to twist the door knob. We have walked the streets, driven for miles on those city streets, prayed, talked to people and met with leaders of churches and ministries. We have done everything but beat the door down and we pushed it hard a time or two. It is locked for now so we are asking God to help us be content.

I have contacted Pastors, churches, evangelists and individuals that I know wanted to come to Nashville. Could you help me pass the word to someone that may have made plans to join us in Nashville? I would appreciate the help very much.

I would also appreciate you praying for us. We need to know what direction to go now. There are open doors but we really want the correct open doors. I would really like to be under the tent this month but I realize it would be difficult for anyone to pull something like that together on very short notice. Please ask God to guide us.

Thank you very much for reading and for praying. May God bless you for it.

Part of Monday's Post:
We are coming down to the wire on our City Reach Nashville and we have hit a pretty severe snag in the planning. During our last trip to Nashville for scouting purposes we settled on one of the city parks that is situated in a great neighborhood for tent revival.

It was not our first choice site but it was very obviously a good location and the best available choice we had. We filed an application before we left town and the metro parks folks followed up with us right away. They have been very kind, very helpful and very accommodating through the whole process.

They gave us a tentative green light and started the formal approval process. All looked good at each communication. They did ask us to adjust our date 2-3 days later because of an annual street festival in the same park and we were glad to do it.

Late in the process the manager (Also very nice and kind to us) expressed worries over having two large and loud 3-6 day events with only one day in between them. She has a responsibility to listen and respond to the neighbors surrounding the park and she was concerned they would be fatigued by the time City Reach began and not respond positively to it.

I understood and agreed with her reasoning. It would be very hard to reach folks when they were mad as hornets that we were there. They might be mad at the park. They might be mad at the city. They might be mad at the manager. They might be mad at the street festival. They might not be mad at us at all but they might take their frustration out on us by doing their best to ignore everything we do.

She offered us a time slot a week or two later but it was not workable for us. We could also have started much earlier but that was not good for us or for the churches involved. We would have had to begin two days from now in order to do it. It was not possible.

#35 Weeekend Woundup and Weview

Please read yesterday's post concerning City Reach Nashville if you missed it. We are still asking God to guide us. I have received encouragement from several folks and I have appreciated every word. Thank you very much.

Monday a Pastor sent a very timely and insightful text. He said, "God always knows when to open and when to close the right doors. So keep your hand on the knob and when He turns it, push and when He has it locked, be content!"

Praise God! I needed to hear that!

Today's post brings us back to regular programming that was delayed by yesterday's interruption. Here is our Weekend Woundup and Weview.

Odie posted the summary from Dryden Rd. Fellowship meeting and the pictures from Friday but I have a few pictures that did not get posted.

The band

Here are a few from the kitchen and food table, a very important place at campmeeting.

We were so blessed to have Pastor Alan Harris and his precious wife Sis. Tammy with us for a couple of days this year. These are some of our favorite people in the world and it was good to see them.

After a tremendous service Friday night we stayed way too late visiting with friends but it is difficult to leave when you know it may be a year or more before you see some of them again. The late night turned into an early morning and we were off to the Lazy OD Ranch Saturday morning.

The weeds are trying to take over the gravel area so I spent quite a bit of time spraying 4 gallons of weed killer on them. It was all in vain though since a pop up storm blew in and washed it all away. Oh well!

I did get the grass moved before the rain.

Sunday morning we were with Pastor Kelly Rogers and the Dodds church right next to the Ranch. We enjoyed the service and enjoyed the great lunch with family afterward. We failed to snap a picture of everyone but here is part of them.

Sunday evening we were invited to West Harrison, Indiana to sing and preach for Pastor Wade Hicks and his folks. We had a great service, a wonderful visit with our friends.

A torrential rain came through while we were at Frisch's Sunday night after church. Some places in Cincinnati received 5 inches of rain in a very short time according to reports.

Monday was a work day at the barn. There is always a project going there and Monday's involved using the table saw, a lot. I finally had enough of fighting with it and built a make shift table to make it easier.

That pretty much brings you up to date. Thanks for reading.

Update on City Reach August 29, 2016

I usually post the Weekend Woundup and Weview on Mondays but I am going to postpone that until Tuesday this week. I have some information that is time sensitive and I would like folks praying with us today and tomorrow if possible.

This is a long story but necessary to explain why we lost our location and there is really no one to blame. We have reached out to another location. It was our first choice after nothing was available in downtown proper but there was a small scheduling conflict there too. I am hoping they are able to work with us. If they are not able then we will have to postpone City Reach Nashville to another time.

We are going to wait on them a few days and then we will have to make the decision. Would you help us pray?

I have said from the beginning that I want to be in the right place at the right time preaching the right message to the right people. I mean that from the bottom of my heart. God knows that and I expect that none of these scheduling issues have surprised Him at all.

I have reached out to some of the Pastors that have supported City Reach Nashville financially and have pledged to support it physically. They have been very understanding of the situation and have assured me they remain committed to it IF it all comes together.

I will post more information later in the week as it becomes available.

Thank you for reading.

View Out The Front Window August 28, 2016

Check out our posts from the last week at the links below.

This was our view out the front door most of the week at Dryden Rd. Pentecostal Church.

This was our view out the front window.

This is our view not out the front window now at the Lazy OD Ranch.

And the view out the front door.

We are preaching and singing tonight for Pastor Wade Hicks in West Harrison and we are looking forward to it. I hope you have a great Sunday.

Dryden Road Friday Night Pictures and Summary

Hey Friends, happy Saturday! It is hard to believe campmeting 2016 is now history for Dryden Road Pentecostal Church. The entire meeting from beginning to end was fantastic! The preaching and church service were fabulous! The fellowship with dear friends was superb and the food was scrumptious!

Before I go on to other things, I forgot to post a picture from Wednesday night. I can not pass up posting a picture of my awesome  cousin, Grace Boyd. I love you, Gracie, you hold a special place in my heart.

Once again this year it was wonderful to be home with our Pastor, Bro. Bennie Sutherland and everyone at our home church for campmeeting. The door is always wide open at home and it feels great to be here.

I can not begin to describe the spirit of God that moved in each service. At times I was overwhelmed with the privilege to feel God so near to us. Not only do I enjoy the personal encouragement but I love watching others receive their help too.

Below I have the list of the preachers and their sermons from this time around. Bro. Dwain Galiher and Bro. Randy Webb were the scheduled speakers. Both Men of God gave us the word of God, as only they can. It was outstanding!  The other ministers that preached all did very well. The Lord definitely spoke to my heart this week through the preaching of his word.

After the summary you will find the last round of pictures from Friday.  I hope you enjoy.

The young folks were playing volleyball late Friday night and the ball was stuck. I suppose that part of Pastor Gary Lee's job description as associate Pastor is to climb up and retrieve volleyballs!
