A New Mile Marker Feature

After the first of the year we are going to begin a new feature on Mile Markers. I am going to give you a small preview of it today. Let me know what you think.

I have been sorting through some pictures from our old computers the last few weeks. I have realized we have a treasure trove of pictures. Well, they may not be a treasure to everyone but they are to us. It has been really neat to see these pictures and remember some of the great times we have had and the great people we have been privileged to meet.

We used to post pictures at our original website www.davykellyandodie.com. Bro. David Johnston built and maintains that website for us. It served us well for years and gave us a place to post pictures and news. Some of you have been with us since the beginning of that site. 

Through the years we posted many, many hundreds of pictures there. It was always a multi-step process to post on the website and it was very difficult to post at times without a really good signal. Signal was hard to come by on the road then and really good signal was pert near impossible. Sometimes we went months without posting any pictures. 

In November 2009 we began this site on Blogger. We were leaving for our second trip to Nigeria and I was looking for a way to post pictures in real time for folks back home. While searching the internet, I ran across Blogger and within hours, I was set up and ready to go.

This was the first picture I posted here.

Of course, long time loyal readers recognize that picture as a Double Big Daddy from Ron's Hamburgers and Chili! Wow! You can still see that post HERE.

The experiment with this site from Nigeria sealed the deal. It was very easy to add pictures and to stay in touch with everyone. We soon moved our Mile Marker updates here and began posting all our pictures here as well.

Over time we had several hacks at www.davykellyandodie.com and I had Bro. David Johnston take down the pictures there. That site is a static information only page and eventually we will point that address here.

Many of the pictures I have been going through the last few weeks were posted at some point on our original website. Some of the pictures have never been posted any where. 

Here is a very small sample spanning several years and a few states. Do you recognize anyone?

I am going to try to post a few pictures each Wednesday until we run out of pictures or interest, whichever comes LAST.😏 We may call the new feature Vintage View Wednesday or in a hat tip to our German friends Wintage Wiew Vednesday. What do you think?
