Trash Or Treasure

Hey Friends,

Happy Saturday, this is Odie checking in from the road. The BoggsMobile is headed to Bristol, Virginia. Revival begins tomorrow at Grace Pentecostal Holiness Tabernacle. We are excited to see Pastor David and Sis. Brenda Horton and Pastor Michael and Sis. Tonya Switzer and the rest of our friends at Grace. We always have a fabulous time with them.

It was great to be home in Ohio this week. This was a productive week at the Lazy OD Ranch. So many projects were being worked on for the home that is being built for me to live in. It is amazing to see things nearing completion. Many people have worked hard to make it all possible. I am eternally grateful to all of them. I will never be able to thank them properly.

Sunday evening I was able to see the countertops in person for the first time. Oh my goodness, I love the way it pulls the kitchen together! It looks so crisp and complete.

I am reminiscing today. Many families have an heirloom that is loved although it is not always something of great monetary value. Others may say your prized possession is worthless. It may not be worth a thin dime, but to you it is important and carries special meaning.

The old saying is, “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure”.  Here is an example.

My Mamaw purchased a blanket at a yard sale for 50¢ when I was a baby. It is so comfortable and comforting. I have many memories of snuggling and napping with this blanket as a child.

Mamaw says she bought it just as another blanket for me to have at her house. It was only one half dollar 32 years ago and it could sell for no more now. But it is not for sale!

It was a well-spent 50¢. Mamaw has gotten her money’s worth out of it. It has served 7 grandchildren with a ton of use and abuse.

32 years later that baby blanket is “The Blanket” at Mamaw's house. Once and awhile we pull it out of the closet and cover up with it. It brings back memories from my childhood.

I have other things that are of great value to me and yet others place no value on them at all. The fact the Jesus Christ gave his life for my sin and arose from the dead so that I could have abundant life, is one of those things.

There are those that cast away an opportunity for salvation without a second thought. They estimate my treasure as trash. What a tragic mistake.

My baby blanket is not worth anything in this world even though it is precious to me. I understand that. But those that underestimate the value of salvation, will one day wish they had found the treasure that will last for eternity.

There is unspeakable joy in serving God. Search for the pearl of great price. His name is Jesus and He is the highest treasure in the world.

Thanks for reading my reminiscing and musing. I am glad you dropped by for a visit. Have a good weekend.

Odie
