A Few New Road Cases

Several weeks ago I was able to find a company that would build custom cases for single speakers to protect the rest of our Meyer gear. They arrived while we were in revival at Fairland. They are the three cases on the right in the picture below.

Meyer Ultra X40 Case

The new cases will be home for our two Meyer Ultra X-40s and our one Meyer UPA-1P. If we are going to invest in good gear, I want to do my best to protect them. Plus, with wheels on the cases, I have to do a lot less lifting each week. That is a good thing for sure!

I love the double case on the left from Spectrum in Nashville. It is probably 35-40 years old and still going strong.

There is currently a Spectrum Sound in Nashville that specializes in sound sales and rental and I think it is the same company. The logo is the same, but they did not respond when I contacted them about manufacturing cases a few years ago. This case and my two cases for my subwoofers were either made by Spectrum or for Spectrum. They are very good cases.

These old cases were part of the gift of sound that Ben Isaacs gave us five years ago and was used to protect and transport two of the Meyer UPA-1As  and the USW-1 subs he donated. 

Meyer UPA-1P Road Cases

I have used the case above recently for our two Meyer UPJ-1Ps and they will continue to ride in it. It is a great case and I would love to have had more built to its standards. 

Unfortunately, I could not find any information about these cases now. There are a few companies that make double cases, but single cases give me more flexibility when loading in the bus so that is what I began to look for.

The new ones are made by Road Case USA in New York. The company was very responsive by email and jumped right on the project. The new cases are decently built, have good rolling casters, it seems, and they were reasonably priced. They will gladly build to your custom size.

It is so nice to unload them and roll them into the church. Oh, what a blessing to my back! Hopefully, the new cases will be riding in the bus bay for many years to come.

Bro. Galen Cummins recently gave us a case that holds CD racks. I am working on converting it to be a cord case and eliminate the cord boxes we carry. It is very nice and is also on casters as well. It is a work in progress, but we are now rolling all of our power cords and speaker cables into the church.

I drilled out the three rivets on each side that held in the center divider. You can see those rivets in the picture above.

Then we went to the hardware store to look for hooks that would work. This is our first attempt. We will see how these suit our needs and then change if necessary. Everything I do is a process of measuring, thinking, guessing and reevaluating!😁
