Shut The Door

Hey Friends,

This is Odie coming to you from Ohio today. Thanks for stopping by to spend a few moments of your Saturday with me.

I will get to my main topic in a few paragraphs. First I want to take a minute to honor two very special ladies.

My Mamaw, Martha Boggs, had a birthday yesterday.

Happy Birthday, Mamaw! I love you! Thank you for being such a great Mamaw!.

Sis. Jane Sutherland, our Pastor's wife is having a birthday today. Happy Birthday, Sis. Jane! Thank you for loving us and praying for us! I hope you have a fantastic birthday!

Both of these women are some of the best ladies on this planet! God blessed the world with a very special gift when they were born. Words do not exist to properly honor my Mamaw or Sis. Jane! I am so thankful for their influence on me.

Shut The Door
"Shut The Door Keep Out The Devil". I am not supposed to be singing right now. I am Sorry, the words shut the door cause a song to pop into my head. Here is the song "Shut The Door Keep Out The Devil".  You can sing this song all day too.😀

Now we can talk about the topic at hand, shutting doors. I struggle to close doors behind me. Closing the main door, of my house, has been a series of movements. I knew there had to be an easier and quicker way to pull the door toward me.

This spring I went to my trusty sidekick Google. I was looking for options. Google did not disappoint. There I was introduced to the EZ Pull Door Closure. This device was invented by another wheelchair user.

I decided to try out this product myself. I ordered an E-Z Pull Door Closure from Amazon. I took a couple weeks to come in from the Amazon seller.

I installed it first on a door in my garage. The E-Z Pull Door Closure made closing the door a lot easier! I was quickly a fan of this product!

Last week I decided to buy two more for the other doors that I need help closing. This time I ordered them from the Sportaid website. I wanted to try both sellers. Sportaid was priced slightly higher but their shipping time was a lot quicker than Amazon.

Four days after my order to Sportaid I had my other two E-Z Pull Door Closures in my hand. Within a few moments of them arriving at my front door, I was installing them. I was excited to have the help to close my doors!

As you can see I have the lever doorknobs. The hook can slide off the levers, but I read to secure the hook to the doorknob with a zip tie. I am careful when I pull the door closed and the hook stays in place. It has not been an inconvenience for me.

Installation is very easy. If I can do, it without help, then it is easy!

I am glad that I found E-Z Pull Door Closure online. This product makes going outside my home easier. I highly recommend this product! I give it a 5-star rating! Click here to visit the E-Z Pull Door Closure website. Also here is the product on Amazon and the Sportaid link is here.

Well, I must close for now. Thanks for reading. I will see you next week.

A Few Pictures From The Week 7/30/21

It is July 30, 2021, my dear Mother's birthday! Happy, Happy Birthday Mom! We love you!

She is so beautiful and graceful!

This Week
Is it Friday already? Yes it is. That means we have pictures for you from the week.

Kelly Jo and I have spent most of the daytime hours working on a barn project. We are dangerously close to being finished. If we have a good day today, we will likely be completed by Wednesday next week. Once we are done I will have lots of pictures.

The rest of the week was pretty much spent in church. We had service online Monday and we have been in three more services as well.

We plan to have an online service tonight and we are supposed to be at Highway of Holiness for Pastor Dallas Lakes for both services Sunday. We are almost back to our normal 6 services a week and that is a good thing!

Kelly Jo prepared some super great meals this week and I think I have a picture or two of food too. Odie's very first picture is of food!

KJo is mowing, but I am not mowing in the background.

KJo will not let me near the mowing yet. I was using Dad's pressure washer on some metal roofing that has been behind the barn. I am planning to use a few pieces inside the barn. That was the first time I had used a pressure washer and it was kind of fun for about two minutes.😊

That's all folks! Thank you for dropping in today.

50 Years A Missionary In Kenya

50 years a missionary. Wow!

We had the privilege recently of meeting a man who has been a missionary to Kenya for 50 years. His name is Evan Erickson.

He and his wife and first child moved to Kenya as missionaries in 1971. I think he said his daughter was one year old at the time. For 50 years they have raised their family and ministered in Kenya.

They have stayed in Kenya for four year terms and then came back to the states to reconnect with family and supporters for the fifth year. That is an amazing life!

They have planted churches, built churches and trained local leaders in Bible schools in Kenya. Many of the students they trained are Pentecostal leaders all over Africa and the world.

He is part of the missions program with the International Pentecostal Church of Christ and when we met him, he seemed to be going strong. They helped him to the platform, but when he took the mic he was a dynamo.

50 years as a missionary to Kenya! His passion for souls to be able to hear the Gospel was inspiring and I hope I do not soon forget it. May God give him many more years of useful ministry!

I can not imagine doing anything for 50 years. I guess I have been walking and talking for over 50 years, but not much beyond that.

This Week
We have been working in the barn during the day this week and going to church at night. We were not in church last night, but after a break for supper, we worked in the barn until time to get ready for bed. I am anxious to show you some pictures of the barn project, but I will wait until a bit more is completed.

Thank you for stopping by today. We plan to be at home church tonight and have service online Friday at 7:00 PM Eastern. I hope you will join us.

A Word For Wednesday - God's Promise To Every Christian

Today it is time for A Word For Wednesday. Our word for today? God's Promise To Every Christian.

Psalm 126:5 They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.
6 He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.

I posted it on our YouTube Channel a few minutes ago.

Heads Up! Trees Down!

We had two big trees and one small tree in the back that needed to come down for different reasons. Britt Tree Company had given us an estimate several weeks ago. They called one evening and asked if the next morning would be Okay to do the work. Absolutely!

In the morning they showed up and went directly to work. They dropped them to the ground, ground up the stumps and all the mess and they were gone in less than three hours. Amazing!

I posted a video to our YouTube channel this morning with the pictures below and some video clips of the process.

The big Maple in the pictures below seemed to be healthy and provided a lot of shade for our neighbors in the evening. However, the roots were growing into their septic line and that was making life difficult for them. It was time for it to come down.

They first tackled the half dead tree by the road that was growing around the utility lines. It needed to come down for both of those reasons, before it came down itself and hurt someone on the road.

I was amazed at how quickly it came down. Thirty minutes after climbing up, the whole tree was on the ground.

While some of the guys were grinding three stumps by the road, the others started on the Maple.

It was all on the ground in thirty two minutes!

Then they ground that stump.

I was really impressed with the professionalism of Britt Tree Company. They had good equipment, hard workers and they did a great job. I highly recommend them for tree work. Both of the big trees could have been tricky, but it was almost nothing for them.

They also took down a small tree in the back that was growing where we park the trailers. I could have snapped it off with my bare hands when we purchased this place in December 2014. I thought it might make a nice tree, but it was growing crooked and was going to be a problem.

Thank you for stopping by Mile Markers today.
