A Set of New Wheels for Odie

In May of 2012, we purchased the Green Machine, a 2006 Scion xB. It served us well for many years. Although we still own it and drive it in Ohio, it is mostly retired from its main duty of being pulled behind the BoggsMobile.

The next year, in May of 2013, Odie purchased another set of wheels. It was a four wheel battery operated scooter.

Previously, we had traveled with two different heavy wheelchairs, but the scooter was much better. It is lightweight and it comes apart in seconds without tools and goes back together easily too. That makes it possible for KJo to unload it, put it together and have it ready for Odie to ride anywhere. It has been a great chair for nearly nine years.

It bounced around in the back of the Green Machine for many years and many, many miles. Lately, it has begun to fail while KJo and Odie were out. Thankfully, KJo was there to help. If not, Odie would have been stuck.

Odie has been looking for a replacement, but everything was back ordered for months. I suppose you have noticed the same thing with lots of items.

Finally, she found a mobility store in Mobile, Alabama that had several in stock, including a scooter that was one step up from her current scooter.

This week we visited the store and made the deal. Here are a few pictures of the one she has had since 2013.

She had red accent pieces on it for a long time, but changed to the blue ones a few years ago.

This is the new one purchased on 2/22/22.

Here they are together.

They seem to be about the same speed, they have the same battery, but the new one has a few differences. It has small springs for suspension, the foot tray is more substantial and it is about an inch wider at the back wheels. The steering and handles seemed to be improved, but time will tell.

Odie is very happy with it.

Hopefully, this one lasts for many years to come.

Thank you for stopping by.
