I received a phone call from Bro. Shobanke early this week telling me about the progress in building the new church for one of the branches of Christ Ambassadors Holiness Church in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria. I was thrilled to hear about it.
Yesterday, we were even more thrilled to receive a few pictures by email!!
As far as we know, we have not been called to full time missions in Nigeria, but we love to come alongside Bro. Shobanke and his precious people in trying to further their work for the kingdom of God in Nigeria.
We believe it is an amazing privilege and honor to assist them in small ways. We have been blessed to be able to help in this church project and with the GoodNews Christian School and a few other places this year and we hope to do more.
Here is a portion of Bro. Shobanke's email and three pictures. I will write more of our plans for this year below.
Dear Evangelist Boggs,
Praise God, nine doors of the church have been fixed and ten windows out of fifteen windows of the church were also fixed. The church is now coming out more beautiful,
I attached the pictures of the church. We really appreciate you. Thank you from your friend across the ocean.
Pastor E. Ade Shobanke
You can see pictures from April HERE.
The new church is so beautiful!
By God's grace, we hope to be able to help more in 2022 on this construction and we hope to be able to visit Nigeria. Kelly Jo and I have not been there since December 2018, since our September 2020 visit was canceled due to Covid. We have never been away from Nigeria for this long since we first went in 2007.
Nigeria has recently removed some of the entry restrictions that were prohibitive to us. IF that trend continues, we hope to be able to go back for 10-14 days in December 2022. It is definitely in our hearts to go!
Good flights with proper routing are running nearly twice what we usually pay, but that seems to be the pattern in nearly everything. We will probably bite the bullet and pay the inflated price if it comes right down to it.
The visa process is more complicated and more expensive every time we go. If a December visit seems likely, we will begin the visa process near the end of August. We are excited to see our friends again.
Thank you for stopping by today. May God bless you all.
Davy
