Friday morning began with a couple of bus chores. I added an end to one of our 50 amp cords and emptied the holding tanks while KJo was buying groceries for the week ahead. We like to eat, the tanks must be emptied and you will understand the cord repair later this post.
Then we paused for a short lunch trip to Sonny's.
In the afternoon, we turned the bus around and lined it up for a quick exit after service. It was a pretty tedious job in a small space, but Kelly Jo drives like a pro.
I guided the process and pulled the front wheel a little too far at one point. The bus was sinking fast, but the back wheels were on solid ground and KJo was able to back up and save the day.
The final service of revival was wonderful and we left after church with full hearts and big smiles on our faces. Pastor Chris Whiffen and his folks helped us load up and get out the gate and on the road. We left at about 9:35 Friday night.
We drove 167 miles, three hours and twenty minutes to a rest area near Lake City, Florida. The reason we drove Friday night was to avoid the horrible Saturday traffic on the Florida Turnpike and I-75 north. Praise God, it worked!
When I stepped outside at the rest area, I was amazed how crowded it was Saturday morning. It looked like a horrible mash-up between a Camping World and a WalMart. It looked like all the winter snowbird RVers were leaving on the same day.
We left the rest area at 9:00 AM Saturday morning and pulled into the Mt. Olive Church north of Colquitt, Georgia 185 miles and three hours and thirty minutes later.
Last year we parked on the grass and left big ruts so this year we stayed on the pavement. It was already a long way to the electricity but I came better prepared this time.
One of my long cords has not been working properly on this trip even though both ends are in good shape and have solid connections. It must have been run over by cars one too many times.
I have recently purchased two 30' cords, one 50' cord and replaced a bad end on another 30' cord. We stretched out 172' of cord with about two feet to spare. That may be a record for us, but it is working. The voltage is good and strong here and that definitely helps. Plus all of the cords are #6/4 wire and heavy-duty ends.
The receptacle is about 50' past the corner of the building below.
After a little rest, we carried in the sound equipment with help from a man in the church. We took our time setting up and getting a sound check. We rested Saturday evening and went to bed early.
Sunday we enjoyed two great services at Mt. Olive and Odie captured some great pictures.
