A Year of Contrasts

The last ten months have been quite a ride. It was ten months Tuesday since I suffered a brainstem stroke as my brother and I were loading the bus so we could leave for our first revival of 2024.

December 29, 2023 to October 29, 2024.

It has been a year of contrasts.

There are moments when it seems like years have passed since the moment of the stroke.
Most of the time it seems like it was yesterday.

The last ten months have been the most physically challenging I have ever experienced.
But each week has been spiritually new and God's presence has been so near every step.

KJo and I have felt alone some days like we were adrift through the far reaches of the universe.
Yet we have never been more loved by people and churches in our entire lives. There have been other challenging times when we were much more alone in our despair, but not this year. We have been encouraged, uplifted and physically and spiritually carried undeniably and miraculously.

For eight solid months I was completely content to be at home, preaching weekends and concentrating on healing (Those of you who know me, know that is a miracle)
We have been on the road preaching revivals for two months and it has simultaneously been the most difficult thing I have ever done and the most joyous thing I have ever experienced.

Each time I stand to preach I know that I am going to expend 100% of my stored energy and I am going to feel like mud when I am finished.
But I know I am about to step into God's presence and the joy of being an instrument of revival in a church and in someone's life will be more than worth the physical revenge my body will extract from me.

And the year of contrasts goes on and on, but you get the idea. The path has been challenging, but God has blessed it all. I can live with that.

Thank you for stopping in.

A Word For Wednesday, A Perfect Prayer For Perilous Times, Boggs Family Ministries

We are happy to bring you Word For Wednesday. A few moments ago I posted A Word for Wednesday on our YouTube Channel. Please watch and leave us a comment here or on YouTube.

Jude gives us a horrific picture of the apostasy of the last days. But first, he offers a prayer for those of us who live in that apostasy. This prayer is perfect for our perilous times. Jude 1:2 Mercy unto you, and peace, and love, be multiplied. Wow! What an amazing prayer! May God grant us mercy that we desperately need and peace that passes all understanding and wrap us in the love of God that never fails! And the key to that prayer is for God to multiply all of that! God does not add to us, He multiplies His goodness and His attributes in our lives! Praise God!

Thank you for stopping by today.

A Quick Trip With Great Purpose

Our mobile lifestyle comes with a lot of things that we think of as advantages. If you live your life in one place, you might think otherwise and that is Okay. There are many things about our mobile life that we adore.

There are some disadvantages too. If it was all sunshine and roses then everyone would be doing it and they would be doing it much better than me. I would have to stay home.

We go so many places and we know so many people. We often experience the joys in their lives as well as the pain. Because we are always moving on to another place, we are often not in the right place to help celebrate the joys or help carry the pain when it happens.

We do not like that part at all.

But, if we canceled revival every time one of our friends was seriously ill or even died, we would probably preach less than twenty weeks a year. It is impossible for us to be with most of our friends when we would love to be.

That grieves us. We talk about it a lot. If we lived in one place and had public jobs, we would not be free to go because of work. I suppose we would know less people and not have as many friends, but that certainly does not work.

So most of the time we grieve and offer comfort the best way we can and we miss way too many weddings, birthdays and even funerals, unfortunately.

Because we were not preaching revivals this year due to the stroke recovery, we were able to visit Bro. Alan and Sis. Tammy Harris a few times after Sis. Tammy's accident. We were thankful for the time we were able to spend with our dear friends during the summer.

When Sis, Tammy passed suddenly last week, we felt compelled to be there if we could. The distance almost completely ruled out driving, but the flight schedule worked perfectly. We caught non-stop flights from Dallas to Evansville, Indiana for a great price and drive less than 90 minutes to the funeral.

Pastor Lendell Birdsong was gracious to us and we were able to make the trip while only missing one service. We appreciate them very much. They took a huge weight from our shoulders.

We were able to be there for the viewing and funeral and we are thankful for that. We saw dozens and dozens of friends from all over the country and embraced them all tightly because of the heightened sense of life's brevity.

The funeral was beautiful and excellently done. Each preacher spoke perfectly and Bro. Alan asked us to sing three songs. We were honored to participate in our dear friend's funeral. It was a sad but spiritual day that we will long remember.

As is appropriate, we did not take pictures during the visitation or funeral. I wish we had pictures of all of our friends, but we do have wonderful memories.

We snapped a few along the route.

Odie with a new friend.

We rented a Toyota Camry or similar car but when we arrived in Evansville, they offered an upgrade.

Instead of a Camry, they gave us the new minivan behind the Corvette.

Please pray for our dear friend, Pastor Alan Harris, his family and the Trinity Pentecostal Church in Central City, Kentucky. Thank you.

The Weekend Dispatch. 10/28/24

Our Weekend Dispatch might be more aptly named the Sunday Dispatch this week. This is all about Sunday and I will try to write tomorrow about the rest.

Both Sunday services were spent with our friends at Crosslight Ministries in Moore, Oklahoma and it was as wonderful as we expected it to be. We love the outreach work that Bro. Lendell and Sis. Cindy do along with their merry band of workers at Crosslight.

This is one of our very favorite stops along the way and we look forward to being here every single time. The Birdsongs and their people have such an amazing love for folks who need Christ and each service shows it. We love joining together with them.

I can not tell you how much I enjoyed preaching Sunday morning and Sunday night. What an amazing joy it is to tell people that God loves them and wants to help them and bring victory into their lives. Praise God for His power and provision.

I loved it even more when people responded in the altar and God began to help them one by one. It was a wonderful day.

I hope you enjoy the pictures from our Sunday.

One More Odie Mishap For The Books

 Hey Friends,

This is Odie reporting from BoggsMobile. I hope you have had a fabulous week. Thank you for joining me for a short visit.

I remembered a blog worthy story I had forgotten to share. This is a story that makes me laugh and shake my head in disbelief all at the same time.

This moment happened on September 24th this year. I was flying back to Alabama from Ohio at 7:30 AM, which required me to set my alarm for 3:30 AM. My ride to the airport was scheduled to arrive at 4:30 AM. My prep work for the crazy early morning began the day before, making the morning a tad easier.

On Monday evening, I marked several things off both my get ready and house shutdown lists. I set my alarm, laid my clothes out and tried to go to bed early, knowing everything was ready to go.

At home, my Echo Dot wakes me with the news. Tuesday morning, I heard the news kick on and I jumped into gear. I knew my time was valuable that morning and I had to be ready on time. I made my bed, got ready and had just a few more steps to be completely prepared. I grabbed my phone to check something and realized it was only 1:00 AM. I was nearly ready 90 minutes before my wakeup time.

Oh, I was so aggravated! Every second of sleep that is possible is important to me. I just grabbed a blanket to lay across my made up bed and tried to get more sleep. I do not know why my alarm went off so early. I had triple checked the time before I went to bed.

It is better to be ready super early instead of late. At least I could have peace of mind that I would be on time. It just made my really eventful day longer. Thankfully I napped some on the plane.

Dad often likes to say the day I was born 2 months early was the only time that I have been early. Well, that is not always the case and this story is proof!

Hope this Odie moment brought a smile to your day! I think I will go take a nap. Reliving this real nightmare moment to write it all made me tired again.

Thank you for reading. See you next week!

This Week

Monday morning we were up and moving toward Moore, Oklahoma by mid day. We love parking at Bethany tucked in behind the fellowship hall but it was time to roll.

We drove 90 miles to the Flying J on the northside of OKC to do the work of the evangelist. We barely got in because of construction on site. If there had been cars at the pumps, we would not have gotten through.

I am interested in seeing what the final layout will be after construction because the RV parking lanes are gone and the path to the dump station is blocked. This has been a regular stop for us for 22 years.

We were delayed a few moments there but the total day was 114 miles and two hours and twenty four minutes. KJo guided me into the church at Crosslight and here we are.

Some of the week was supposed to be rest but it did not work completely like that. I rested Tuesday but the girls took care of laundry and some groceries. We did walk to midweek service Tuesday night but we did nothing in the service but enjoy it.

Wednesday KJo drove us less than two hours to a special place in our hearts. We slipped into the midweek service at the House of Prayer in Gainesville.

Like many other churches these folks have prayed fervently for us this year. I can not remember how many times they have text and called from their services to tell us they were praying right then.

The service Wednesday was fantastic! They wanted to hear some testimony about the last several month so I mixed it in among the preaching. We had a wonderful night.

Odie captured some great pictures.

They have been our friends for years and they are special to us. While we were so close, I did not want to miss an opportunity to see them, embrace them and thank them personally.

Thank you for joining us today.
