The Weekend Dispatch 11/7/24

Hey Friends,

This post is one of the last post, I know Dad had worked on 3 weeks ago. It was supposed to be published 11/7/24, better late than never.

The regular weekend post is a little late this time around. Dad had started composing the Weekend Dispatch that should have been posted on Monday, but it was preempted due to Dad’s sickness.

He had everything written through lunch on Saturday. I tried to pick up and finish the post where he left off.

From Davy

Our weekend began with us having lunch with Bro. Bruce and Sis. Priscilla Mayhan as they arrived to see us in Wichita. Our lunch was at Tacos TJ on West Street.

I ate my first taco in over 10 months and it was so good. The corn tortilla was replaced by shredded cheese grilled into the shape of a tortilla. Wow! Swallowing the taco was not the easiest thing but it was so worth it! One taco was more than enough to fill me up so that tells you about how much less I have been eating since the stroke.

The food was great and the fellowship with our dear friends was even better.

Friday night we walked into revival service and received a super surprise. Steve and Karen drove up from Alabama for the weekend. The church folks were thrilled to see them and we were too.

The service was wonderful again and it was made even better by our friends and family being there, including Elder Bost and his grandson. It was great to have them too.

Odie captures a few more pictures from Friday night.

Saturday we met the Mayhans for lunch again along with Steve and Karen. Yes, I had another Cheese Shell Taco! It was another wonderful meal and we enjoyed the visit soooo much!

From Odie

There was no church on Saturday night.  It poured the rain most of the day. We went to bed Saturday evening, hoping to enjoy our extra hour of sleep with the time change.

Within just a little while, Dad woke up suffering horribly in his body! His suffering continued for hours on end. Sadly, we did not get to make either of the services to finish up the revival. Thank you to Pastor DiZazzo and the church of Bethany Revival Center. They were very understanding and helpful to us during our time of need.

Sunday afternoon before rain set in again Mom was able to go into the church and break down our sound equipment. Thank you to my Aunt Karen Boggs and all of our friends who assisted Mom!

We had hoped to start traveling toward home on Monday. As you know, we were unable to travel. Life does not always go as planned. God Is always good! We thank him for His faithfulness to our family and for helping us through every day.

The friends and family that we were able to see on Friday and Saturday encouraged us and helped us through Dad’s unplanned sickness.

God allowed my Uncle Steve and Aunt Karen to be there when we needed them once more! They stayed in Wichita to help us! That was a HUGE blessing to the three of us and all of our family at home.

Thank you for reading today! See you next time.

  1. I’m sooooooo glad I went to the service that Friday night at Bethel!!! I had no idea that it would be the last time I’d see Davy on this side of heaven. I had no idea that I’d hear him sing and preach for the last time. God is good!!!!
Thank you, Lady K and Odie for sharing Davy with the world. He was truly my brother from another mother!!! I love y’all and I’m here should you ever need me. 🤓🙏🏽🫶🏾
