God Help Our Nation

Back on March 19th I wrote this concerning the downward decline in our nation toward accepting and then forcing homosexual marriage on our businesses and churches.
In the last year caterers have been sued and harassed because they refused to bake a cake for homosexual weddings. a florist's business was destroyed because they would not provide flowers for a homosexual wedding.
Soon photographers, wedding planners, banquet halls, food service companies, printers, dress makers and many others will be forced to participate in homosexual weddings or stop servicing weddings altogether.
Lawsuits against churches that will not allow homosexual weddings in their churches and preachers that will not perform homosexual weddings will be the next order of business. The day will come and is not far off when our churches will be forced to perform or at least allow homosexual weddings in our sanctuaries or stop performing or allowing any type of weddings at all.
I did not know it until this week but City officials in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho were already pushing the envelope several months before I wrote that. They are forcing a for-profit wedding chapel to marry homosexuals or face a 180 days in jail and $1000 fine for EACH day they decline to do it.

It is only a matter of time until they force the same thing on churches themselves. Our Supreme Court will probably sanction homosexual marriage within months. God help our nation, God help our churches and God help our Pastors. We are in perilous times.

Coeur d‘Alene, Idaho, city officials have laid down the law to Christian pastors within their community, telling them bluntly via an ordinance that if they refuse to marry homosexuals, they will face jail time and fines.
The dictate comes on the heels of a legal battle with Donald and Evelyn Knapp, ordained ministers who own the Hitching Post wedding chapel in the city, but who oppose gay marriage, The Daily Caller reported.
A federal judge recently ruled that the state’s ban on gay marriage was unconstitutional, while the city of Coeur d‘Alene has an ordinance that prevents discrimination based on sexual preference.
The Supreme Court’s recent refusal to take on gay rights’ appeals from five states has opened the doors for same-sex marriages to go forth.
The Knapps were just asked by a gay couple to perform their wedding ceremony, The Daily Caller reported.
“On Friday, a same-sex couple asked to be married by the Knapps, and the Knapps politely declined,” The Daily Signal reported. “The Knapps now face a 180-day jail term and a $1,000 fine for each day they decline to celebrate the same-sex wedding.”
The Alliance Defending Freedom has filed a suit in federal court to stop the city from enforcing the fine and jail sentence, saying in a statement from senior legal counsel Jeremy Tedesco that the government has overstepped its bounds, The Daily Caller reported.
“Many have denied that pastors would ever be forced to perform ceremonies that are completely at odds with their faith, but that’s what is happening here — and it’s happened this quickly,” Mr. Tedersco said, The Daily Caller reported.
But the city sees it differently. As far back as May, city officials were insisting that their ordinance is indeed in line with law.
“If you turn away a gay couple, refuse to provide services for them, then in theory you violated our code, and you’re looking at a potential misdemeanor citation,” said Coeur d‘Alene City Attorney Warren Wilson, to KXLY months ago.

The Christian Science Monitor published a story recently concerning the Presbyterian Church's approval of homosexual marriages in every congregation, making it the largest Protestant group in the United States to do so. I remember preachers standing in the pulpit when I was a boy in the mid to late 1970's saying the day would come when the sodomites would take over the world. They predicted that Sodomy would be considered normal and marriage between homosexuals would not only be accepted by society but common. I suppose their preaching was inspired in part by
Genesis 19
Luke 17:28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; 
 29 But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. 
 30 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.
And by
Jude 1:7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
I remember hearing this as a boy and being completely dumbfounded. It was absolutely unbelievable that something that drastic could or would happen in our 1970's worldview. How could Sodomy ever be considered normal and marriage between homosexuals not only be accepted by society but common?
Even in the context of the sexual revolution and free love movement of the 60's and 70's, homosexual marriage was unquestionably out of the realm of possibility. The whole idea was preposterous.
I do not remember any type of pronounced reaction from the church to this kind of preaching. I seemed to me that they nodded their assent and then went on to the next subject. 
Of course as a boy my perception could have been out of focus but I remember thinking this is more serious than we are taking it. We ought to be rushing to the altar asking God to change hearts and protect the world and the church from what was coming.
I am sure that churches did take it seriously. I am sure there were people alarmed at the possibilities. But the prospect of the very thing that destroyed Sodom and Gomorrha becoming common in America was a shock to my young mind. Those scriptures and that message was etched into my mind and burned into my consciousness.
I never forgot it and I never got over it.
Even as I preached it myself in later years and expounded on the future as I saw it from the pulpit, I hoped and prayed it would be delayed or completely avoided. Ten to fifteen years ago as most states went to the ballot box to change their constitutions to define marriage as a union between a man and a woman it seemed as if the forces of evil were being pushed back.
Over the last six years we have witnessed as state after state had their laws and constitutional amendments preserving the legal definition of marriage declared unlawful by liberal activist federal judges. In just a few short years what seemed so impossible is now nearly the universal law of the land.
Yet sodomites are not satisfied with having the legal right to marry, every one must approve and cheer them on or else. If you preach what the Bible says about homosexuality, it is hate speach. To preach the simple message that most churches believed just a few years ago is bigoted, dogmatic and narrow minded. To say exactly what our President said a few years ago is unfair, unreasonable, inexcusable and nearly illegal.
What did he say that is so off limits now? In 2008 our President was then a candidate. He stated emphatically and repeatedly that he was against homosexual marriage. He said, "I believe marriage is between a man and a woman. I am not in favor of gay marriage." He also said, "Now, for me as a Christian, for me, for me as a Christian, it is also a sacred union. God's in the mix." 
He has since reversed his position and has pushed the homosexual agenda with the full power of his office. It is well documented by those close to him, including one of his chief campaign officials and a former White House adviser, (David Axelrod Believer: My Forty Years in Politics) that Obama purposely misled the American public concerning his stance on homosexual marriage in order to get elected.
It is said that he saw this deception as necessary to win the presidency and that he did not enjoy it. Yet he referred to his Christianity and invoked the name of God to convince the American public that he was sincere. Like a kid covering his lie by saying, "I cross my heart and swear to God and hope to die."
Now, a few years later, if we say the same thing our President said against homosexual marriage, "I believe marriage is between a man and a woman. I am not in favor of gay marriage." and "Now, for me as a Christian...it is also a sacred union. God's in the mix.", we are labeled as twisted, warped, obstinate and insensitive. 
That is a disquieting and nauseating turn of events in such a short span of time.

What will your Pastor do? What will your church do? You better figure that out now, because you will face the decision in my opinion.
The article below names several denominations that have embraced the ordination of homosexuals in the ministry and that have allowed members to be practicing homosexuals and have homosexual marriages. It is by no means an exhaustive list. There are many more examples. Plus the numbers of denominations that are wrestling with this issue is huge as well.
In the late 80's I cut out an article from the USA Today newspaper. It was a story about the largest congregation of the Unitarian Universalist church ordaining an openly homosexual pastor. It was totally radical in that day and most of the major denominations were against it.
I stood in the pulpit then and declared, as I have many times since then, that other denominations would follow the Unitarian's and in time the major Pentecostal denominations would fall in line as well. The first part has come to pass in devastating and disappointing fashion and I still fear the Pentecostal denominations will not be far behind.
Our Pentecostal denominations and other historically conservative denominations, groups and fellowships have compromised many long held Biblical doctrines and moral standards. We  have repeatedly followed the main line groups down their liberal path just a few years after we thundered condemnation on them from our pulpits and from our pews. 
Here is the pattern. They compromised, we preached against them, then we put our hand over our mouth and followed them, conveniently ignoring the Bible and our former vocal opposition to their downward direction.
Surely we will never compromise on this issue. The Bible is clearly against the sin of homosexuality. This is one line we will not cross. We love those caught up in sin. We confess that God saved us from sin and washed us in His own blood. We believe and declare that He will do the same for every sin and for every sinner. Every sinner can be set free from sin and no longer be in bondage to sin.
Every liar can be restored to truth. Every hater can be baptized in love. Every drug addict can be set free. Every alcoholic can be delivered. Every defiled mind can be cleansed. Every adulterer, every fornicator, every idolater, every thief, every gossip can be be forgiven. Every captive can walk in liberty. Every effeminate and abuser of themselves with mankind can be washed in the precious blood of Jesus just like every other sin.
Such were some of you! 
I Corithians 6:9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 
 10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. 
 11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
Praise God we are not what we used to be. We are now washed. We are now sanctified. We are now justified. We are no longer bound by sin that had shaped us and formed us. We are brand new creatures in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.
There is a remedy for all sin. There is remission for all sin. There is no reason to remain in sin. Hallelujah! We are saved by the blood of Jesus and sin no longer rules over us! We are set free from the reign of sin.
Therefore we will never embrace the sin of homosexuality and bring Sodom into the church. Not when there is forgiveness and redemption. We can not. We must not. We will not. The fundamental groups will not. The Pentecostal denominations will not. The Pentecostal fellowships will not.
That steadfast resolve will remain true for some. God will find men faithful when He returns. I wish that were true of all. I want to believe it is true for all. However I have witnessed our propensity to compromise on major issues. I have observed our pattern of backsliding and I am convinced some are about to stumble on the top step of a very long descending stairway.
This is not going to be a pretty fall. There will be no reason for rejoicing. I can imagine even the unscrupulous, immoral, deceitful, underhanded and shameless of this world will have to turn their face rather than watch the church embarrass itself in condoning and cuddling known sin.
But they will rejoice. They are rejoicing in the Presbyterians decision this week. They are thrilled at the mounting pressure on the church. They love to watch the church figure out a way to save face while selling out. They enjoy hearing the intellectuals chew Hebrew and spit Greek as they explain their evolving theological position when they KNOW the purpose behind the church's fake rationalization.
It does not require spiritual discernment to know the real reason churches change their beliefs and whole movements embrace what the Bible clearly calls sin. They no longer love God above all else and reverence His Word. A church that willingly and knowingly clings to and cradles sin is selfish, calloused, petulant and cares little for the commands of God OR the God behind the commands.
Even the world can perceive that compromising churches like the acclaim of the elite, love the applause of men, live for the approval of the crowd and they cave to the compulsion to conform to every one else.
Public opinion is turning against us on this issue. The executive and judicial branches of our government have turned against us on this issue. It is only a matter of time until it becomes very inconvenient, expensive and even down right dangerous to cling to the Biblical stance on homosexuality and marriage.
This issue is not going away. The homosexual agenda will never be satisfied with tolerance. They are demanding acceptance and applause. The Unitarians, the Presbyterians, the United Church of Christ, the Episcopal Church and many others have already stepped off the cliff. Many more groups have one foot in the air and they are preparing to leap.
What the real church does now is very important. God help us.

Presbyterians approve gay marriage in church constitution
The historic decision makes the Presbyterian Church the largest Protestant group in the United States to allow same-sex weddings in every congregation.
The Presbyterian Church approved redefining marriage in the church constitution Tuesday to include a "commitment between two people," becoming the largest US Protestant group to formally recognize gay marriage as Christian and allow same-sex weddings in every congregation.
The new definition was endorsed last year by the church General Assembly, or top legislative body, but required approval from a majority of the denomination's 171 regional districts, or presbyteries. The critical 86th "yes" vote came Tuesday night from the Palisades Presbytery in New Jersey.
After all regional bodies vote and top Presbyterian leaders officially accept the results, the change will take effect on June 21. The denomination has nearly 1.8 million members and about 10,000 congregations.
The Rev. Robin White, a leader of More Light Presbyterians, which advocates for gay acceptance within the church, said many families headed by same-sex couples "have been waiting for decades to enter this space created for their families within their church communities."
So far, 41 presbyteries have rejected the redefinition, which includes a provision that no clergy would be compelled to preside at a gay marriage or host such a ceremony on church property. The vote in one presbytery was tied, according to a tally by the Covenant Network of Presbyterians, a pro-gay group that works to keep Presbyterians united despite theological differences.
The new wording for the church Book of Order will read, "Marriage involves a unique commitment between two people, traditionally a man and a woman, to love and support each other for the rest of their lives."
Carmen Fowler LaBerge, president of the conservative Presbyterian Lay Committee, said the new definition was "an express repudiation of the Bible" and approved "what God does not bless."
The church had already authorized ordination for people with same-sex partners four years ago, and last year, allowed ministers to preside at gay weddings if local church leaders approved in states where the unions were legally recognized. LaBerge's group has urged Presbyterians to protest by redirecting donations away from the national church until the original marriage definition is restored.
Although several US Protestant denominations have taken significant steps toward recognizing same-sex relationships, only one other major Christian group has endorsed gay marriage as Christian church-wide.
In 2005, the 1.1 million-member United Church of Christ became the first major Protestant denomination to back same-sex marriage, urging its individual congregations to develop wedding policies "that do not discriminate against couples based on gender.
The Episcopal Church, which blazed a trail in 2003 by electing the first openly gay Anglican bishop, Gene Robinson, does not have a formal position on gay marriage, but allows bishops to decide whether their priests can officiate at the ceremonies. Episcopalians will take up gay marriage at a national meeting in June.
The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, which eliminated barriers to gay ordination in 2009, takes a similar approach, allowing some discretion by clergy and congregations to officiate at same-sex ceremonies without formally recognizing same-sex marriage as a denomination.
The United Methodist Church, the second-largest Protestant denomination in the U.S., bars "self-avowed practicing homosexuals" from ordination and prohibits gay weddings.
The Rev. Brian Ellison, executive director of Covenant Network of Presbyterians, said he recognized "there will be significant disagreement among thoughtful faithful people" about the new marriage definition. "We're very committed to helping the church continue working through this issue," he said.

Between 2011, when the Presbyterian church authorized gay ordination, and 2013, the latest year for which figures are available, 428 of the denomination's churches left for other more conservative denominations or dissolved.

Taxes and the Price of Gas


I took this picture of a gasoline pump in Mississippi.

Now, I will be the first to say that the price of oil is too high. Obviously if oil was alot cheaper then gas would be alot cheaper too since the price of oil accounts for 44% of the price.

But here's what gets me.. Taxes (at least in Mississippi and probably every where else account for 30% of the price of each gallon. Think about that for a moment. The government takes 30% of the price of every fill up. That's about $1 a gallon in Ohio right now. 

When gas prices go up the liberals in government and their partners in the press scream about big oil making  too money. They say,"Big oil is oppressing the little people that can't afford it." But big oil is taking all the risk, drilling all the wells, shipping all the product, paying all the employees. For all of that they get a 44% share of the end product.

Government hinders and taxes drilling, transporting, refining and selling the oil every step of the way. Government restricts drilling, regulates everything and reduces every ounce of profit they can. Government does nothing to drill for oil, refine oil or transport the oil or the finish product. Government does not build gas stations, install pumps or take any risk in the marketing, buying or selling the gasoline.

Yet they take 30% of the price of every gallon of gas that is sold? Tell me, who is making an ungodly profit? The oil companies, refineries, gas stations and clerks behind the counters are working hard for their money. It's the government that is getting an insanely huge profit and doing nothing for it. I say do away with that 30% and America can roll on and the economy can flourish.

To fill up the General it is always $60 and usually $75-80.  The BoggsMobile fill up is between $450-650. That means the government gets $20-24 every time I fill up the General and $135-195 every time I fill up the BoggsMobile. (Actually the taxes on diesel are usually even higher still.)

Can you imagine how much money Americans would have left to spend on things we really need if government would quit trying to punish business for earning a profit and stop confiscating all of our profit?

Greater Love Hath No Man Than This...


One of the first stories that I read on my phone about the recent round of terrible tornadoes in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and beyond was about a Louisiana police officer who protected his little girl with his own body while the tornado swept through their campsite. Moments later a large sweetgum tree fell on him and he was killed.  His child escaped without physical injury. She lives because of his sacrifice.

They have now released some details.  The officer's name is Lieutenant Wade Sharp, 40,  from Covington, Louisiana. He was a 19 year veteran of the Covington Police department and has risked his life at least twice before to rescue others from burning houses. They were vacationing with several other families near Ackerman, Mississippi. (Just about 80 miles from where we were last week) In the last few moments of his life Lt. Wade Sharp acted exactly as he always had.  He put himself in harms way in order to protect some one else. This many truly lived and died a hero.

There is much tragic news from these storms. We are all reading of the horrendous size and incredible power of the tornadoes, the terrible destruction, the loss of property, the loss of so many lives and the helpless feeling in many that remain. We are seeing the images of the tornadoes, the havoc they wrought and the chaos they left in their path. We will be remembering these stories and images for a long time to come. For those that have been directly affected by these storms all across the southeast, it will be a long and arduous road to recovery.

Yet in the midst of all the terrible, bad, bad news, stories emerge like the one I told to you above. Wade Sharp and others we are beginning to hear about acted on instinct and went beyond the "normal" requirements of life and put others needs and safety before their own. They didn't act out of duty or obligation.  They acted out of Love. Love drives men and women to be willing to lay down their lives for others.

Jesus told us in John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Then Jesus went to the cross and demonstrated exactly how to do it. He demonstrated the selflessness of true love. We live in a selfish world and in this selfish world, to see the selflessness of love demonstrated is very refreshing.

The impact of the loss of Wade Sharp will be keenly felt by his wife, children, coworkers and community for a very long time. But his daughter lives because Wade Sharp loved. A family of 14 in Alabama lives because their father, Tom Lee loved. Many others lived through those terrible storms because some one else loved. The tragedy is heart wrenching but the demonstrated love is heart warming.

It occurs to me now that it is not too late to save and help others with our love. We weren't there to do something spur of the moment and heroic but it's not to late to do something selfless. I know two good churches that are in Tuscaloosa and I know they are distributing food and water and helping in any way they can. I am going to contact them and see what we can do. I can not be there but I can possibly send money. In fact, I am sure there is something that each one of you can do. Sometimes love costs us something but it is always worth it.

Thank God that love is still producing heroes in this selfish world.

Price of Oil, Diesel & Gasoline

THIS is one of the reasons I can't stand oil at over $100 a barrel. These pictures are from the BoggsMobile's most recent fill up on Thursday April 7, 2011 at Flying J in Dothan, Alabama



I usually put in 150-160 gallons when I fill up but I stopped for fuel a little early this time because my route next Saturday may not take me by a good place to buy fuel. That's the reason I ONLY bought 129 gallons.

We have short memories in America. Oil at $147 a barrel in 2008 is precisely what brought our economy to a screeching halt. Families had to choose between buying gas to go to work and paying their mortgage. Whole companies shut down their operations because the price of fuel took all their profit. The discretionary spending of most Americans was no longer discretionary, it HAD to be spent on gasoline, propane and heating oil. Our strong economy nearly collapsed from the weight of it.

Three years later our economy is still struggling. In some areas there is virtually no new housing market, no new construction to speak of at all. Home prices are still falling in most markets while the price of everything else is going up fast. The price of oil is on the rise again and in my opinion it will not have to rise to $147 a barrel to wreak havoc this time. There is a tipping point some where and I believe it is close.

The really bad part is that our dear president thinks this is good for America. In an appearance last week in Pennsylvania President Obama needled a man who asked about high gas prices and made fun of people who drive big vehicles. The truth is that it takes big vehicles for this country to survive. Big trucks, vans and SUVs are an integral part of our society. They keep products and people moving. We don't need smaller cars and public transportation, we need lower Oil, Diesel and Gasoline Prices.

Well, that's my two cents worth. That's what I had left over after I filled the tank on the BoggsMobile. Lol!!

USA To Rebuke Israel At United Nations-God Forbid



When I read that headline on the Drudge Report Wednesday night my heart sank. I could not believe I was actually reading that about America. "Why should it bother us" you might say... Read a few of the promises that God made to Abraham. I emphasized the promises with bold letters. Keep in mind that God is not a liar.  He always keeps His Word!

Genesis 12:1  Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
 2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
 3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.


It is my firm belief that one of the main reasons God has blessed America so richly, relates directly to verse 3. For the most part, America has been a friend to Israel.  However, you can mark God's Word, they that curse Abraham's people will bear the curse of God.  That is why my heart sank. My immediate reaction was to ask God for mercy and to remind Him that we are not all against Israel. There are many Americans that pray daily for the peace of Jerusalem and love the people of Israel.  There are many Christians in America that cringe at headlines like the one above.

God forbid that our leadership should so whole heartedly turn on Israel. God forbid that our nation should join forces with those that OPENLY seek the destruction of Israel. The promises of God are very clear.  The miracles that God worked to bring the Jewish people back home after nearly 2000 years are very plain to see.  He brought them back because He gave them that land ForEver.

God said in Verse 7 ... Unto thy seed will I give this land...
In Genesis 13:14 God said, ...Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward:
 15 For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.
 16 And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered.
 17 Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for I will give it unto thee.

Israel is God's real estate and He has given it to the Jewish people.  We must not pressure them to give up their inheritance for an empty promise of elusive peace.  Real lasting peace will never come to the middle east until Christ rules and reigns on the throne of David!  Let the heathen rage!  Let Satan roar! But Israel belongs to the Abraham's seed forever!

You can know for sure that Israel's neighbors will rise again to push her into the sea.  It may be that this is where all of the latest unrest is headed. This may be the time when all of these events began to come to a boiling point. When it does, God will fight for Israel. God will destroy all of her enemies. He will reign down fire to consume them. My prayer is that the USA will be on the right side when that day arrives.

Friends, we must pray that God will turn the tide in America.  If our nation rises up to condemn, rebuke and curse Israel then God WILL curse our nation.  We must pray that our leaders will not harden their hearts against God.  We must intercede to God for those in authority.

If they refuse to heed God's Word... If they join forces with those that would destroy Israel...Then we must pray for mercy.  We must ask God to mix mercy with the promised judgement. Folks it is time to get serious. If you are waiting for perilous times before buckling down and serving God with your whole heart. Now is the time to do it! Tomorrow could very possibly be too late.

Health Care Struck Down

We should always choose our words wisely. Of course telling the truth all the time helps because nobody has a good enough memory to be a good liar.

Many politicians are willing to say whatever they need to say to gain favor with whoever they are talking to at the time. I suppose they usually get by with it but now everything they say is recorded and searchable on the Internet. It looks like to me that they would watch every word and speak the truth. But it seems Americans will never pay close attention and the liars will never learn.

It is a rare occasion that a politicians words actually catch up to him but this may be one of those occasions. In the 2008 campaign Mr. Obama was firmly against a position because Mrs. Clinton was firmly for it. However as President Obama he has been as firmly for it as Mrs. Clinton ever was. Yet nobody called his hand on it until now. A Federal Judge quoted candidate Obama while striking down President Obama's universal health care plan.

It will be interesting to see how widely reported the story is reported.

Judge uses Obama's words against him.

In ruling against President Obama's health care law, federal Judge Roger Vinson used Mr. Obama's own position from the 2008 campaign against him, arguing that there are other ways to tackle health care short of requiring every American to purchase insurance.

"I note that in 2008, then-Senator Obama supported a health care reform proposal that did not include an individual mandate because he was at that time strongly opposed to the idea, stating that 'if a mandate was the solution, we can try that to solve homelessness by mandating everybody to buy a house,'" Judge Vinson wrote in a footnote toward the end of the 78-page ruling Monday.

Judge Vinson, a federal judge in the northern district of Florida, struck down the entire health care law as unconstitutional on Monday, though he is allowing the Obama administration to continue to implement and enforce it while the government appeals his ruling.

The footnote was attached to the most critical part of Judge Vinson's ruling, in which he said the "principal dispute" in the case was not whether Congress has the power to tackle health care, but whether it has the power to compel the purchase of insurance.

Judge Vinson used Mr. Obama's campaign words from an interview with CNN to show that there are other options that could fall within the Constitution — including then-candidate Obama's plan.

During the presidential campaign, one key difference between Mr. Obama and his chief opponent, then-Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, was Mrs. Clinton's plan required all Americans to purchase insurance, and Mr. Obama's did not.

In the heat of the primaries in 2008, New York Times columnist Paul Krugman predicted Mr. Obama's opposition to an individual mandate could come back to haunt him: "If Mr. Obama gets to the White House and tries to achieve universal coverage, he'll find that it can't be done without mandates — but if he tries to institute mandates, the enemies of reform will use his own words against him."

Mr. Obama has since defended the constitutionality of the individual mandate, arguing it's the linchpin of the program to bring in more customers, which is key to expanding the availability and affordability of insurance.

An American Missionary Shot and Killed in Mexico

According to several news stories an American Missionary was shot and killed in Mexico yesterday. Nancy Davis was shot as her husband Sam was trying to drive them away from hostile situation about 70 miles south of the border. It is tragic and this family needs God to help them. I do not know these folks but they seem like very dedicated people. Please pray for this family.


It should also remind us to pray for the Landress family and many other missionaries we know that are risking their lives to work in Mexico and other places. I may update this post later with more information as it becomes available.

My Health Care Plan

Wow! When you bring up the topic of President Obama's Health Care Plan you find out pretty quickly where people stand. It is an emotional, hot button topic. Folks either love it or they hate it. I admit, I have very strong feelings about it myself.

I hate to see the government MORE involved in almost anything. I hate to see private industry MORE controlled in almost any situation. I hate to see people deceived into believing that millions more folks will be receiving MORE benefits and it is going to cost billions of dollars LESS. Insurance companies cannot cover every person and every condition and still make a profit and continue in the insurance business. That will leave the government as the only insurer which is probably the whole point any way! The whole mess drives us further down the road toward socialism and the government monitoring or controlling more and more of our personal lives.

I could go on an on about my thoughts, arguments and feelings but that's not my direction for today. I wanted to tell you about my health care plan. Bro. Jerod Burris, a dear pastor friend in California came up with this on Monday while mulling all of this over in his mind. With his permission, I have adopted it as my own. Bro. Jarod's statement is point 2 & 3 below.

Here it is. I'm not going to fret over the government takeover of the health care system. They do not control my health care. They will not affect my health care plan. They cannot fix or destroy my health care plan. It is beyond their control!
1. My Health Care Plan is not and cannot be administered or hijacked by the Government.
2. "My Health Care Plan has ALWAYS accepted pre-existing conditions and...
3. The premium has already been paid!"
