Weekend Wrap Up 3/17/25

 Hey Friend,

I hope you had a fabulous weekend. We were blessed with a great weekend at home. Here is just a sneak peek.

On Saturday, we stayed close to the house. Mom and Papaw worked on a project. I was not outside to take pictures; I was working inside.

Then, Mom put together a cube shelf for the living room and another for her room. I tried to help when I could. At least, maybe I was moral support.

Sunday due to heavy rain  we went next door to Dodds for their morning service. It was great to see family and friends! Then we went to dinner with several family members, including my Uncle Jay's parents. The family time was wonderful!

Sunday night we were back home at Dryden Road. It was wonderful to be with our church family once again! We had a great service. Our pastor preached wonderfully!

We wrapped up Sunday with food and fellowship after service. The young people were raising money. I did fail to get any pictures. Oops, I was living in the moment and let blog material slip my mind. Please forgive me!

See you tomorrow

Ikea Memory For Throwback Thursday

 Hey Friends,

Thanks for stopping by to visit. We greatly appreciate you spending some valuable time with us! I hope you are having a good day.

Yesterday, we rested from our travels. In the afternoon, we ventured out of hibernation. After getting ready, food called us.

We found our way to Panda Express. Dinner was scrumptious and hit the spot! Here is a picture of my plate.

It was a beautiful day to be out and about. We enjoyed the sunshine and warm temperatures. I will enjoy it, while it is here!

Then we journeyed to Ikea. Mom and I had been wanting to go take our time looking around the store.
Both of us were looking for storage solutions.

It was great to explore all the different options. We both decided on some cube shelves for now.

I captured this picture outside the store. I love seeing the moon so bright.

While shopping we remembered a family trip to Ikea. It happened, June 1 2018, we took Dad to Ikea for the first time.

I had just received occupancy of my house. I needed furnnishing for my new home.  We went to buy my bed, a few chairs and storage for my closest.

Dad enjoyed looking around at all the furniture and stuff for a while. Then he wanted out of the store right now! Dad did not like the maze you have to follow to get out of the store.

Dad said he like the stuff I chose. He was really a fan of the prices, quality of the ítems and choices offered. He was not a fan of pulling the boxes of furniture that I wanted off the shelves, downstairs before checking out of the store.

On the way home from Ikea that day, Dad declared, ”I have made my first and my last trip to Ikea”! He was right! that was the only time he was at the store.

Once we got home, he was really not a fan of having to put everything together. I remember that night it took several people three hours to put my queen size bed together. All these years later, it's still standing!

He often said you and your Mother can go to Ikea as much as you want. I will not go with you, and you have to put everything together.

Yesterday, Mom and I had a to laugh when we thought about that memory. Daddy never did go back to Ikea.

My mom has helped me assemble every piece of Ikea furniture we have added to my house since then. She enjoys it and works quickly to get the job done! Now we have a few more items to put together.

Something else I thought about, Dad no longer needs storage solutions or neat affordable furniture. He will never have to look for another perfect thing. He no longer has a need to put any furniture together. Where my Dad lives now everything is just right!
Heaven grows much sweeter each day!

Daddy, I can not wait to see you again! Thank you for a treasure trove of great memories! We think of you every day, and love and miss you! You are forever in our hearts!

See you tomorrow!

Back At Our Beach Cottage

 Hey Friends,

Hello from Ohio! We arrived safely back home yesterday afternoon. The Lord gave us a great trip!

We are so thankful for all the friends that we seen, and the memories that we were able to make with my grandparents. I will have more pictures of our trip later.

Beautiful sunshine and warm weather greeted us! That was a breath of fresh air compared to what we left!

My Mamaw and Papaw were also here to welcome us home! It was wonderful to see them! I am grateful for all of our family who kept an eye on everything while we were gone!

As I type this post, it is late Tuesday night, and I just crawled into my bed. I plan to hibernate here for a while!

I wanted to update you on our travels. Thank you for your prayers! God heard them, and answered them! Several of you checked on us and we appreciate your concern! We are blessed wonderful friends!

I will check in when I am done hibernating!😴😴

Sunday Sanity 2/2/25

Hey Friends,

This is Odie reporting in for another Sunday Sanity. My friend, Sis. Lacey Lamb recently reminded me of something Dad said about faith. This statement spoke to her, and she made note of it.

I, too, remember hearing him make this statement in his preaching and thinking it was excellent! Lacey, thank you for bringing this back to my mind!

I do not know if this was an original quote from Dad. He often credited others, but I do not remember this one. For today, Dad gets the credit.

"Faith is not a blind leap in the dark, but a leap into the hand of God. It's a vast difference."

Thanks for visiting. See you next time.

Foodie Friday Bacon Cheddar Ranch Dip

 Hey Friends,

I hope you are having a great Friday. What lies ahead in your weekend plans? I am planning an exciting weekend. I will tell you all about it later.

Today is Foodie Friday. I planned to share an easy recipe with you.  Sadly, I can not find the picture I thought I had for the post.

You are just going to have to believe that it is yummy. The best part is that it is quick and easy, which is my type of dish. The recipe is Bacon Cheddar Ranch Dip.

I love the combination of every ingredient. This is a family favorite! My Morgan side of the family often requests that I make it for family functions.

Bacon Cheddar Ranch Dip

1 block of cream cheese

1 c sour cream

1 pkg of dry ranch mix

1 c (or more if you like it) shredded cheddar cheese

Chopped Green onions

Real bacon, pieces or bits

Combine all ingredients and refrigerate

You can save some cheese, green onions, and bacon to garnish the top before serving.

I usually double this recipe. I use as much cheese as I feel it needs, and I often use different types of cheese, not always cheddar. Serve with crackers, pretzels or chips of your choice. Now it is time to enjoy the yumminess!!

See you later.

Sunday Sanity 1/19/25

Hey Friends,

I hope you are having a wonderful Sunday! We have returned to the deep freeze here in Ohio. According to the weather guessers, as my Dad called them, we will be there for several days. I will still rejoice and be glad because this is the day the Lord made.

Pastor E.J. Lamb provides with today's sanity. Mom and I attended service with our friends at the Anchor on Wednesday night.

We sure do love Pastor E.J., Sis. Lacey, their children, and the Anchor of Hope church family! All of them have been special friends to us for a long time!

On Wednesday night, he preached on “ Faith Beyond Feelings.” The entire message was encouraging, but this little nugget stood out.

“Faith is not a walk in what I see and feel, but faith is walking in what I know”. Pastor E.J. Lamb

One thing I know God will always be with us, even when we can not see or  feel Him!

See you tomorrow.

Gran’s 2025 Birthday Dinner

 Hey Friends,

I hope you had a great weekend! Mom and I had a good one. On Saturday, we spent the day with our cousin Lisa.

Sunday was spent at church with our incredible church family. We are extra blessed to be part of the DRPC family, and we have had some excellent services lately!

Between services, we had time to celebrate a special lady's birthday, which was yesterday!

That special lady is Mom’s Mother and my Gran, Betty Jo Morgan! Happy Birthday, Gran! We love you so much!

It was wonderful to spend a couple hours with her on her birthday. I can not tell you the last time that happened. Possibly 20 plus years!

This year it actually worked that most of the Morgan crew was there for Gran’s birthday dinner. I think the total was 20! We had a great time with family!

I cherish these moments, always have, but they are even more special now. Life is fragile. The loved ones surrounding us are valuable treasures!

I hope you enjoy a small glimpse into our celebration of the World’s Best Gran! Thank you to Joey Danies for allowing me to use a few of your pics!

See you all tomorrow!

Snowy View And Sunday Sanity 1/12/2025

Hey Friends,

Happy Sunday! I hope you have a fantastic Lord's Day. We have had a snowy week.

We did not leave the house for several days. By Wednesday, we were able to get out a few times, but then more snow came! I think, we can get out for church today!

Here was the view out our front door on Monday afternoon. This was probably 8-10 inches of snow.

This was our view Friday evening and yesterday after more snow came.

We probably added 2 more inches Friday night.

Uncle Jay came once again and shoveled everything for us. We appreciate his help, so very much!

I will close with today's Sunday Sanity. I recently heard it and instantly knew it would appear here!

"The will of God is not a destination. It is a journey."

2025 Beach Cottage January Snow

Hey Friends,

Thank you to everyone who has watched, shared and commented on our latest YouTube video. We appreciate your support and encouragement!

The video went live early Monday morning. Mom and I are still learning, but we are having fun in the process! Others will never see our bloopers, but they give us lots of laughter!

This was our second duo video. You can watch it below if you missed it on Monday.

2025 Beach Cottage January Snow

I hope you have had a great week. It has been a week of digging out here, literally! Like many of the United States, snow covered Ohio earlier this week.

The weatherman got this storm right. There was lots of snow, but thankfully, the ice part of the forecast was not included. We were well stocked and prepared if we lost power, and we are grateful that was not the case!

Thanks to Mom for working hard Saturday! She had us storm ready! Thank you also to our dear friends Timmy and Rick, who helped with our preparation!

Snow started Sunday morning. By Monday, 8-10 inches of snow was on the ground in Waynesville. Mom captured these pictures in the afternoon. At this point, it was still beautiful!

Uncle Jay Osborn showed up after these pictures were taken. He shoveled my driveway, porches and sidewalks, and he made sure Mom had a path to the barn if she needed to.

Jay's act of service in the frigid temperatures was amazing to both of us! Thank you, Jay, we love you! Several others called and texted to check on us. We appreciate their thoughtfulness!

Today, the snow is still on the ground! I am staying tucked safely inside our warm home. We are stocked on food and supplies. I have no plans to leave the comforts of home right now.

Thanks for stopping by to visit with me. See you tomorrow!

Boggs Gandchildren Visit Our Grandparents

 Hey Friends,

This is Odie checking in for the final Saturday post of 2024. I hope you are doing well.

We are hanging in there. This week has had good and really rough days for us. Your prayers continue to be felt and appreciated!

I am working to compile my Morgan and Boggs Christmas photos into blog format. Today, I will share Thursday night's grandchildren's gathering.

Our branch of the Boggs Family tree consists of Eugene and Martha Boggs, our Mamaw and Papaw. They have four children: Steve, Davy, Theresa and Tommy. Seven grandchildren joined the family over seventeen years, 1985-2003: Andrea “Odie,” Deidre, Victor, Isaac, Lauren, Jonas and Lucas. In 2024, three grandchildren have married: Deidre and Ben Shoemaker, Victor and Emily Boggs and Jonas and Kylee Boggs.

Our Mamaw and Papaw are now Nana and Papa great to six great grandchildren. The great grandchildren age range is six years to six months JoJo 6, Charlie, 5 Chloe 3, Arlo 2, Theo 1 and Carson 6 months.

The Seven of us grandchildren are spread out. We now live in Ohio, Kentucky, Alabama and North Carolina. Actually getting of our family in one location at the same time is a rarity, these days. Usually it is a quick family gathering and that is it.

The seven grands decided we needed a visit with our Mamaw and Papaw at their house. Plans for a surprise started weeks ago. The date was set for December 26th. It was the seven grandchildren and three spouses. Thanks you, Uncle Steve and Aunt Karen, for watching all six of your grandchildren while we had Mamaw and Papaw time to ourselves!

Thursday my Aunt Theresa helped make sure Mamaw and Papaw were home. The stage was set for the ten of us to arrive in five sets. Victor and Emily showed up last with pizzas.

We had a great time eating, laughing and reminiscing! We were all telling stories! Lauren and I brought games to play, but we never got that far. The family time was precious!

The fun in action

Thank God we were able to make this surprise work. I think we all needed the special time with Mamaw and Papaw!

A group picture to commemorate the night was a must on our agenda. Below is a snapshot of this Kodak moment.

Time flew by while we were having fun. Soon we had to head our separate ways. I love my cousins and grandparents! We are blessed with a tremendously close family! Thanks for stopping to visit with me today. See you next time. Odie

Throwback Thursday 12/26/24

Hey Friends,

Did you catch the Christmas video posted on the Boggs Family Ministries YouTube channel yesterday? Check it out below if you missed it. The video is our first duo video. Our resident videographer, editor and director is not here. Mom did a fantastic job editing the video and getting it to post! I am proud of her!

Christmas

I hope you had a fabulous Christmas. Mom and I had a great time with our family! We laughed, ate, cried, reminisced and repeated the sequence several times.

Our hearts grieve because we missed Dad sorely! We also rejoice, for we know he is rejoicing with our Savior! Oh, what a blessing to have hope and peace. All because our Savior came to earth as a baby just for us! He is the greatest gift ever given!

Throwback Thursday

Our Throwback Thursday pictures are from some past Christmas family gatherings. Here are some of my favorite Christmas throwback photos.

Thanks for stopping by to visit. See you right back here tomorrow.

Beach Cottage Christmas 2024

Hey Friends,

Thank you for spending a moment of your time with me this Thursday. It is bitterly cold here in Ohio. Winter has set in. I do not enjoy the high temperatures in the 20s like we have today. The wind chills make it feel much colder!

We are supposed to have a little bit of snow this morning. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

I thought I would give you a little glimpse of what the beach cottage's Christmas decor looks like this year.

I still have a couple of things that I want to fix up. The lights on my bedroom Christmas tree went out after I got it decorated, but before I could take pictures.

My cousin Lauren came over and did the tree in my living room for me! She is very talented, and I think it looks beautiful! Thank you so much, Lauren, for your help! I love you, and it was fun to spend some time with you!

I will leave you with the inside pictures of my beach cottage Christmas 2024.

See you tomorrow!
