Throwback Thursday 2/6/25

 Hey Friends,

Thank you for dropping in today. It is once again Throwback Thursday. We appreciate your visit!

Today, we have a picture from Sis. Ann Gabbard. She found this photo recently and sent it to me. I thought it was a good one for this segment of the blog.

I believe this was taken October 2004 or 2005. I know it  was taken during the Bond Campmeeting.

Thanks, Sis. Ann, for this memory! We love you all!

See you next time.

Sunday Morning Recap West Harrison

 Hey Friends,

This is Odie. I am back from a wonderful vacation. I got home late Saturday night. I will post lots of pictures and details later. I have not had time to edit and sort things yet.

I had a fabulous cruise and flights! Thank God for allowing me to have a smooth vacation. Thanks also to many of you for your prayers and concern for my well-being!

Sunday Morning Recap

We traveled just a little more than an hour to Indiana yesterday. Pastor Wade Hicks invited Mom and me to service Sunday Morning at West Harrison Pentecostal Tabernacle.

It was so good to see our dear friends again. They have been dear to our hearts for many years. We are thankful for their friendship now and always!

Pastor Hicks asked us to come sing and testify yesterday morning. Bro Wade preached after we sang. We are grateful for the invitation to minister, in our way, to their congregation. They received us with open arms!

After service, we enjoyed a meal and fellowship with Bro. Wade and Sis Sharon. We are thankful for a great morning, and the Lord helped us!

I will close with the pictures I captured and a few from Sis Chrissy. The pics upload is in a crazy order! Some days, I can not get it right.

Thanks for reading! See you tomorrow.

Tribute To Davy from Pastor Matthew Erinola

Hey Friends,

Thanks for stopping by to visit with us. Here is an email that was sent to us last week. Bro. Matthew Erinola granted us permission to share this publicly.

Pastor Mathew is of our precious friends from Nigeria. He interpreted many sermons for Dad on the trips to Nigeria.

I will let Pastor Mathew finish this post. See you all later.
Odie

“Good day to you sister Kelly and compliment of the season. Once again, I commiserate and express my heartfelt condolence to you on the passing on of your husband very lately.

It's as if he were still with us. I looked forward to hearing him preach and teach, for his messages were clear, simple, sincere, yet very powerful and touching.

Oh how I missed him! Your husband was a rare gift to the Body. But he left the stage too soon. Yet we can't question God. He knows best and I very much believe He’s prepared the best for you and Odie, even before he was taken to glory. Therefore take heart. He'll take care of you both.

He ( and of course all of you in the Boggs family ministry) have a heart like that of Jesus. Jesus ministry wasn't limited to preaching and teaching, He was healing and feeding multitudes altogether. And that's the pattern you were showing each time you came to Nigeria.

I personally know how many needy in the church I reached on your behalf last time you came in NOV/DECEMBER 2023. I'm an all time beneficiary of your kind gestures.

The God of all comfort who is also the father of mercies (2Cor 1:3-4) will comfort you on all fronts. God will give you a better, brighter and a bigger tomorrow. You will laugh in a large place and forget all your sorrows in the name of Jesus.

You are still in our hearts. We are praying for you. Blessings.”
Matthew Erinola.

Tribute To Davy From GoodNews Christian School.

Hey Friends,

I am in vacation mode. I tried to plan out the blog this week and schedule each post. So you would not be without a daily post. I did not want Mom to worry about the blog while I was gone.

All that being said, I have a few tributes or memories of Dad that will be shared for a few days.

The GoodNews Christian School in Nigeria is a ministry that Dad loved! He put his whole heart into supporting their work. He was so happy to know the school was growing continually!

Boggs Family Ministries is continuing to support the school today. More information will be coming shortly.

We all know Daddy loved to visit the school when he could. He was always planning his next trip!

Pastor Samuel Bamidele, is the principal of the upper grades in the school. He sent us this letter back in November. Below is his letter behalf of the school.

Odie

"Dear Family of our beloved Pastor Davy Boggs,

Our hearts are deeply saddened as we mourn the passing of our beloved Pastor Davy Boggs, who was not only a guiding light to the Goodnews Christian School but also a faithful missionary to Nigeria and a pillar in our church, Christ Ambassadors Holiness Church. Pastor Boggs was a true servant of God, selflessly dedicated to the work of the Kingdom, touching the lives of countless individuals across generations.

His love for people—children, youth, and the elderly alike—was evident in every interaction. Pastor Boggs’ unwavering support of various projects in our churches and schools reflects a legacy of compassion, faith, and evangelism that will continue to inspire us for years to come. Though we grieve his loss, we rejoice that he has entered into the rest of the Lord, whom he served so faithfully.

We extend our deepest condolences to our beloved humble and caring Mummy Kelly and our ever loving Sister Oddy and the entire family. We pray that God's peace, which surpasses all understanding, will comfort and strengthen you during this difficult time. His legacy of love and devotion to Christ will live on in our hearts and through the lives he has touched.

With heartfelt sympathy,
Pastor S.O Bamidele,
The Principal Goodnews Christian school Saje Abeokuta Ogun State Nigeria.”

Sunday Sanity 1/19/25

Hey Friends,

I hope you are having a wonderful Sunday! We have returned to the deep freeze here in Ohio. According to the weather guessers, as my Dad called them, we will be there for several days. I will still rejoice and be glad because this is the day the Lord made.

Pastor E.J. Lamb provides with today's sanity. Mom and I attended service with our friends at the Anchor on Wednesday night.

We sure do love Pastor E.J., Sis. Lacey, their children, and the Anchor of Hope church family! All of them have been special friends to us for a long time!

On Wednesday night, he preached on “ Faith Beyond Feelings.” The entire message was encouraging, but this little nugget stood out.

“Faith is not a walk in what I see and feel, but faith is walking in what I know”. Pastor E.J. Lamb

One thing I know God will always be with us, even when we can not see or  feel Him!

See you tomorrow.

Thankful For Our Pastor And Church Family

Hey Friends,

Thanks for visiting with me today. It is good to see you again! If you are new to the blog, welcome. Please stop by every day. I am posting daily blogs, hoping to give you a glimpse into the lives of Kelly Jo, Odie and Boggs Family Ministries.

Today, I am here with a heart full of gratitude! It is impossible for me to tell you all the ways God has blessed us in the last 9 weeks since life suddenly took an unplanned turn!

Mom and I are incredibly grateful! God has been so good to us, and many people have been Jesus' hands and feet. Their help and prayers are invaluable to us. Every call, text, email, comment, piece of snail mail and hug is greatly appreciated. I pray for God's blessings on each person!

We stop and thank the Lord multiple times a day! The future is still unknown, but we are doing our best to walk daily in His grace and plan for that particular day!

I want to publicly thank Pastor Bennie Sutherland and the Dryden Road Pentecostal Church. Our Pastor and church family have rallied around us, and we are overwhelmed by their love! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! We love our church family!

The loss of my Dad has been painful for our Pastor and church! I wish I could ease your pain, too! Thank you for standing with us! We are suffering together, and we will persevere together!

Bro. B.D. Sutherland has been our Pastor and DRPC has been our church home for 36 years. They have been with us through good times and bad. I do not know where we would be without them!

Dad taught me the importance of a Pastor and a church home. He lived by example, teaching me to be submissive to a Pastor and work hard to stay connected to a church family.

Over the years, we have gained many road churches that feel like home. We have special connections with several dear Pastors. Their friendship, love, counsel, prayers, and support have been needed and appreciated! Boggs Family Ministries has many great men of God in our corner. We love them all!

The top of the list was right at home, where we belong: Pastor B.D. Sutherland and DRPC. Today, I am extra grateful to belong to DRPC!

See you right here tomorrow!

Tribute To Davy By The Walker Family

 Hey Friends,

Thank you for visiting with us today. It is always good to chat with my friends!

Two full months have passed since Dad reached his Heavenly home. We are still trying to wrap our feeble minds around this reality.

What is normal life? Dad was our life. Each day is a process. Digging out of what someone called an “earthquake” that rocked our world last year.

Last night, I spent a moment reading some of the tributes that have been sent my way. They warm my heart!

Dad was well loved and touched countless lives! He impacted the world for good the best he could. Dad was always searching for one more lost soul or hurting person. He loved to bring a smile to somebody else's face. Mom and I had the privilege of having a front seat to witness it firsthand.

Today, I have chosen to share a tribute posted by the Tony and Annie Walker Family of Moultrie, Georgia. They initially posted this online in November.

We cherish our fun times with their family! Bro. Tony and Sis. Annie are special friends to the Boggs Family. We do not talk all the time, but our connection is real. We love them!

The Walkers' sons, Dallon and Landon, always held a special place in Dad’s heart! Dad was thrilled to hear from either of them and know they were working for God with their families! He would often show me pictures of their children!

Pictured Below is Davy with Bro. Tony Walker. This picture was taken at First Assembly in Douglas, Georgia.

The Walker Family can finish this post out with their tribute. See you right back here tomorrow.

Odie

“ To know Bro. Davy Boggs was to love him. You couldn't help it. He had a way of drawing you in and making you feel like part of his family. He, Sis. Kelly Jo and Odie have blessed our family and church so many times. I would always get so excited when I knew they were coming for revival because they lifted the load from our shoulders and encouraged us in so many ways.

And we had FUN!! From building towers at every restaurant, listening to their many fun adventures, and Sis. Kelli Jo's Chinese imitations, they were just a joy to be around. Bro. Davy always made my boys feel special. He would sit and take up time with them and talk with them. Those times meant so much to Tony and I because PK's need to feel seen too, and Bro. Davy did just that.

A BIG hole has been left in the Walker family's hearts. This world will never be the same without Bro. Davy. I know He has finally reached that land of which he sung and preached about, but he will be missed.

Please lift Sis. Kelly Jo and Odie up to the Lord, and pray for all of Bro. Davy's friends that will miss him so” 💔

Throwback Thursday, 1/9/2025

 Hey Friends,

It is time for another photo from the archives. Mom sent this picture to me last week. I do not know the time and place it was snapped.

I love it because it is a picture of Dad and two of our wonderful friends, Bro. Mike Crafton and Bro. Kurt McCrorey. Both men have been part of our lives for a long time and hold a special place in our hearts!

Bro. Mike Crafton and his family have been our friends since I was a small girl. We reconnected with them while we were living in Kansas. They lived in Joplin, Missouri. Our families would visit the same concerts and revivals without planning it.

Soon the three Crafton sisters and myself were super close. They became like my sisters We fellowshipped every chance we could find or create!😀

Bro.  Mike and Sis. Denise, Mom and Dad Crafton, just claimed me as their older daughter! I still love my Crafton family! Their crew now includes two son-in-laws and 7 amazing grandchildren!

Bro. Kurt and Sis Angie McCrorey became dear friends of ours in the early 2000’s. Our pastor told Dad we needed to get to know them, and he was right!

From the beginning of our first evening spending time with them we bonded. The friendship was more like family. They were with us during lots of good times and rough patches.

It is hard to remember life without the McCrorey family! We watched their children grow up. Now they are married and have their own families. Where has time gone?!

I know they helped us move three different times. Bro. Kurt has been part of our ministry since BFM was incorporated. We are so thankful for his friendship and assistance!

We have so many great memories with the Crafton and McCrorey families! We love and appreciate all of them! Both families traveled many miles and hours to be in services with us!

I am so thankful for the excellent friends God placed in our path! We value these wonderful people! I will never forget their friendship and dedication to our family!

Thank you for joining us! See you tomorrow!

Davy’s Memory Lives On In Nigeria

Hey Friends,

Boggs Family Ministries with the help of God’s people was able to provide some much needed funds to complete a church in Nigeria this year. Dad was excited about this project after he saw the need for help last year during their visit there.

He was thrilled that God helped us, and despite his health battles we were able to help our friends complete their new church building. This is one of the branch churches of Bro Shobanke’s Christ Ambassadors Holiness Church in Abeokuta, Nigeria.

The dedication date was set for December 2024 of the building. Dad wanted nothing more than to be in Nigeria for the dedication. His head knew that his body was not up to the trip. His heart still wanted to be with our dear Nigerian friends, “across the ocean”!

After Dad’s passing our friends decided to to do a joint dedication and memorial to honor Dad. Our family was so honored by the thoughtfulness of our precious friends. We love all of them dearly!

Saturday was the special day. We could not be there but our hearts are greatly touched. We will have more pictures and details of the service later. We were sent a picture of the beautiful plaque at the church's entrance.

Thank you for reading. See you tomorrow.

Christmas Mall Fun

Hey Friends,

Thank you for visiting. I have something fun to tell you about today.

Yesterday I spent a few hours with some my favorite ladies. Sarah Lakes Boyd, Bethany Lakes Hoskins and Rebecca Lakes James, which they will forever be The Lakes Girls in my brain. 😁 Ava James and Emerson Hoskins were also part of our fun crew too. We missed you, Grace Boyd and Brylee James!

I was blessed to have them as my cousins, friends and role models growing up. We share lots of wonderful memories from our younger years.

We actually had a good laugh over one of our memories! We had to stage a photo. No one was harmed in the process!

while in Indiana for a youth camp back when I was around four or five, Rebecca accidentally locked us out of the girls dorm. She was watching me while our Mothers were at choir practice. In her panic, she pushed my stroller down the back steps of the dorm. We went for a little tumble! All I remember is landing in the rocks and Sarah coming to my rescue along with our friend Anita. They picked me up and took me into the dorm. They dusted me off and made sure I was OK.

Rebecca has felt horrible about that moment all these years! It is definitely something that we have never forgotten. We have laughed a lot about it. 30 plus years later she still can not believe that my Mom trusted her to watch me. 😀

From my earliest memories, they have been a bright spot in my life. Always there to lend a smile, give a word of encouragement, or just be a friend. I am genuinely thankful that they have been my friends for life. They have always gone out of their way to make sure I knew they were my friends.

Now is no exception. They were some of the first to reach out to me when our current journey began! They have carried us through prayer and being there whenever I needed them.

Yesterday, we actually got to sit have lunch, talk, laugh, cry and just enjoy each other's company. A little bit of retail therapy was also thrown in the mix. We finished the day off with a little treat and coffee.

All around it was a wonderful day! Just what I needed to bring a smile to my face. it made me extra thankful for the wonderful friends and family that God has placed in my path!

See you tomorrow

God Still Has It All In Control

Hey Friends,

It is Wednesday, I don't have A Word for Wednesday for you. I I do think it would be fitting to post a video featuring Dad.

This was originally posted to our blog and YouTube in February 2021. This is a song from a service in Livingston, Texas. This was recorded at the Beech Creek Assembly with Pastor Don Goodwin.

On this particular Sunday, we were not scheduled to be in Texas. I believe God ordained for us to be in the service. This is just one of the ways that God showed us He was indeed in control!

One week later Covid forever changed our lives. Dad and I were diagnosed with Covid for the first time the following Sunday, January 31, 2021. Dad never fully recovered from Covid and the many health problems that followed after that. One thing we never forget and never will: God is in control!

This powerful service has never strayed far from my memory since it happened. I am so grateful that it was caught on camera and recorded. We forever have the memories with us! I went back last night and rewatched this video. I wanted to hear, in particular, the message that came from God during this song!  It gave me great solace, even now.

Wow, there was no way we could know what the future held for our family. But God was speaking to us even then! Today, I hold onto his promises. I trust that He still has it all in control!

Please take time to watch this video. Also, I will post the link to the post Dad wrote about this day on the blog himself. It is worth rereading!

Click here to see Dad's February 5th 2021 blog post.

Thanks for visiting with me! See you tomorrow. To quote Dad, "Ciao for now."

Tribute to Davy By Larry Smith

Hey Friends,

This is Odie checking in for another Tuesday. Thank you for dropping by to visit with me. I appreciate all of you who have let me know that you are still enjoying the blog. I am doing my best to keep it going.

Today, I have another tribute for you that was sent to me about my Dad. Our dear friend wrote this tribute that we affectionally call “Uncle Larry”. Uncle Larry lives in Ellisville, Mississippi, where he attends First Assembly. He is an exceptional friend to our family. Dad often referred to Uncle Larry as his hero!

The special day Uncle Larry talks about in his tribute below will always be a highlight in our lives! It was special for us to spend time with him and his Vietnam brothers! We were honored to be there to support our friend!

Our Bro Davy Boggs has gone to be with the Lord he has preached about for all these years and here is something to show how special him and his family are.

They were starting a meeting in the Dallas area at the same time we were holding our Vietnam reunion. On Friday afternoon they took time out of their busy schedule to spend time with me and my Vietnam brother's. That's what makes the Boggs family so very special to me and especially to our church. I hope they know how much we love them.”

Uncle Larry, thank you for your service to our country! Thank you for being our friend You will forever be our hero. Thanks for the invitation to join you for such a special event!

In answer to your question, we know that you love us and your church loves us! You all have proven it time and time again! Thank you for your prayers and standing by us!

Thanks for reading! See you next time!

Davy’s Funeral Services Link And A Tribute

 Hey Friends,

This is Odie, last night many hundreds of our dear family and friends showed up to pay their respects to my Dad and the impact of his life. The line lasted over four hours!

Mom, myself and all of our family feel extremely loved! People journeyed from coast to coast and many from points in between to be with us. We are astounded by the kindness that we have been shown!

Dad’s Celebration of Life will be this morning. Click here to view the service on Boggs Family Ministries YouTube channel. It begins Thursday at 11 AM Eastern, 10 AM Central. Please share with others who may like to attend virtually as well!

I will close today with a poem written in tribute to Dad last week. These words were penned by our long time dear friend, Bro. Rick Combs. I found this picture of Dad and Bro. Rick in our archives.

A BETTER CHOIR

A poem By Rick Combs
Honoring The Graduation To Heaven Of Brother Davy Boggs
November 10, 2024

For years, he poured his heart out,
In his preaching and his singing,
From slow ones to the faster ones,
That had the rafters ringing.

From tent revivals everywhere,
To Africa and more,
He never lost sight of the One,
Who he was working for.

And now, his work on Earth is done,
And now, it’s time to rest.
Surrounded by the saints of GOD,
The happy and the blessed.

I’m sure that Heaven’s choir,
Has been doing great for years,
With rousing songs of victory,
And no more death or tears.

But as our brother’s voice joins it,
I think it just got higher!
With Brother Davy Boggs’s voice,
It’s now a better choir!
