Happy Birthday Daddy 2025

 Hey Friends,

Thank you for dropping by for a visit! We have been in reflection mode this week. A couple of big days are here this week, back to back. 

January 15th, last year, Daddy came home from the hospital after the stroke. Click here to visit yesterday’s post

January 16th is my Dad’s birthday! Dad did not like a lot of attention on his birthday. He always wanted to make a big deal about mine or Mom’s, but not his! A blog post is just about all I could get by doing for him.

He does not get a choice this year! We are spending today honoring the great man I got to call Daddy!

Mom and I sat down and reflected on Dad’s last days on earth. He taught us to love God and His greatness always! Dad’s love for his Great God was evident until the end. 

Also, we included Dad singing If You Could See Me Now. This video was recorded as part of a church service at my house in April of 2020. We also played it at Dad’s celebration of life. Some people have requested to hear the song again. I figured his birthday was a great day to share it again.

I will close with a note for my Daddy. See you tomorrow. 

Happy birthday, Daddy! I love you, “More than a hog loves slop”! You will forever be my superhero! 

This is the first time in my lifetime that I could not celebrate your birthday with you in person. Over the years we have celebrated your birthday in a myriad of states and ways! You may not physically be here, but we are still marking this extra special date on the calendar. 

In a while we will enjoy a delicious dinner with several family members in your honor! I know there will be tears, laughter and lots of memories! I so wish you could be here with us! You are always dearly missed!

Do I Trust You

 Hey Friends,

Kelly and Odie here. We hope you are having a great day. Our Waynesville, Ohio, beach cottage is currently covered in snow. Right now the snow is beautiful!  Mom took this picture late last night. 

We are grateful for the nice, warm home that keeps us snug!

In this video, we give a small update and sing a favorite song of ours. We went way back to the archives for a song written by Twila Paris. 

Do I Trust You is an older song that has helped us through many rough spots. We have sang it around the piano since I was very young. Now, these lyrics bring us solace once more. 

We are grateful that we can trust the Lord in every part of life! He is definitely trustworthy. Even though things do not always go our desired direction, we Trust God!

Hopefully, you find encouragement to trust God in your cumstance too! I know He will be there for you as well!

Jude gives us a horrific picture of the apostasy of the last days. But first, he offers a prayer for those of us who live in that apostasy. This prayer is perfect for our perilous times. Jude 1:2 Mercy unto you, and peace, and love, be multiplied. Wow! What an amazing prayer! May God grant us mercy that we desperately need and peace that passes all understanding and wrap us in the love of God that never fails! And the key to that prayer is for God to multiply all of that! God does not add to us, He multiplies His goodness and His attributes in our lives! Praise God!

God has given you the whole glass and you may drink as deeply as you desire.

We live in condemnation and fear because of our sin. We can not escape detection. We can not hide.

Luke 8:17 For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither [any thing] hid, that shall not be known and come abroad.

We can live in that condemnation or we can live in freedom. We can be forgiven, set free and completely cleansed through Christ.

I John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

This story vividly demonstrates that nothing can be hidden forever!

In the USA, we have a presidential election soon.

Like all presidential elections in the USA, the outcome is critical to our future. With so much at stake, it seems that we could find better candidates than we normally do. Of course, I do not want the job and I imagine most people with much sense, do not want it either.

As in most elections, there is substantial division among the people. People are passionately for or against and anger boils over near constantly on the subject of the presidential election, especially as it approaches.

The hate is extreme!

And the stress can be overwhelming even if you would like to ignore it all. I want to quickly share six simple truths about elections that can lower the stress level during election season.

I had forgotten about the possibility of A Wordless Wednesday until I was struggling with allergies for a few days and my voice was affected.

Pastor Bill Parks preached from the book of Jonah recently and his premise blew my mind.

Bro Parks said IF Jonah had obeyed God, the whole book would have been ten verses long. But Jonah added much trouble to his life because of disobedience! If we will obey God instantly He will bring great things to pass and we will avoid so much trouble in our lives by simple obedience. Here is how the book of Job should have read. Two verses in Chapter One 1 Now the word of the Lord came unto Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, 2 Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me. And eight verses from Chapter Three. 3 So Jonah arose, and went unto Nineveh, according to the word of the Lord. Now Nineveh was an exceeding great city of three days' journey. 4 And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown. 5 So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them. 6 For word came unto the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he laid his robe from him, and covered him with sackcloth, and sat in ashes. 7 And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste any thing: let them not feed, nor drink water: 8 But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily unto God: yea, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands. 9 Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not? 10 And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.

The odds were against Gideon and Israel and God keeps manipulating the odds against them until they are in an absolutely horrible position. There is no way for them to win and God says that is just right!

Thinking Of People and A Place That I Love Dearly

My dear friend Bro. Shobanke from Abeokuta, Ogun state, Nigeria turned 80 years old earlier this week. They are combining a celebration of his birthday and 50 years in the ministry with campmeeting.

Originally, it was my plan to be there for this big event and also to dedicate the new church that we helped build earlier this year. I was not physically able to make the trip, but my heart has been aching to be there so badly. 

Today I have been looking at videos and pictures from our trip there in November/December 2023. I have been weeping and laughing at the same time at several points during the day. 

I love my Nigeria family and I long to be with them. Perhaps God will grant me the privilege to be with them in the near future. Hopefully, it will be sooner rather than later.

If I thought I could handle the long trip, I would have already been there this summer. If I am going to be in one place, unable to preach revivals, it might as well be there as here.

We had saved a little more to send for the school construction. We sent that today along with a little extra for Bro. Shobanke’s 80th birthday. I would rather deliver it in person, but I am thankful to be able to deliver it at all.

I found today that I have videos that I have never posted. I need to get on that. Until then, I will try to post some links below to YouTube videos that we have already posted from our trip to Nigeria and links to pictures.

They were dragged away from home and could not sing! They lost their joy and quit singing! Saints of God, we as God's children are known by our song. We can not lose our song. Don't quit singing!

Revival Memories, Summer Revival and A Word For Wednesday

Thank you very much for watching A Word For Wednesday each week and the current Summer Revival Series. It is always nice to have you with us AND to hear from you as well.

It is kind of strange to realize that we are in the fourth year of producing A Word For Wednesday. I never dreamed that I would have anything left to say when I began In January 2021. There are some weeks that I feel like I have exhausted every possibility and then my mind opens to a whole treasure trove of Biblical insight and stories that stir me spiritually.

I reckon I will continue until the well of my mind goes completely dry. I think I have another week or two in me.😍

We have really enjoyed the Summer Revival Series the last several weeks and we hope to run through July and maybe a week or two into August. It has been wonderful to get back to the roots of our YouTube Channel and the ten weeks of revival in 2020.

We had no idea what we were doing. We had begun the YouTube channel in the previous 48 hours and we were learning on the fly. However, we wanted to be instruments of revival and we were doing it the only way we could think of at the time. 

It worked out pretty good and we were spiritually blessed because of it. You may notice that Odie's voice is included during the first three weeks of revival but she is not physically present. We are having church in her garage and she is in the house using a cordless microphone and in-ear cordless monitor to hear us.

Kelly and I had been exposed to Covid the week before in Australia and we had been cautioned by the Australian government to self-quarantine for three weeks. That is exactly what we did. This was the first service where Odie joined us in person 21 days after we returned to the US and the 18th night of revival.

It was a very uncertain time in the world but God gave us revival in the middle of it. We will always look back fondly on those days. Even though Covid beat up on me pretty badly in 2021 and is still affecting my health three years on, it can not kill revival.

Thank God for revival then and thank God for revival now, Thank you for joining us too! We plan to crank up again tomorrow evening at 8:00 Eastern.
