This is Day 2 of our 12 Days of Christmas on our YouTube Channel.
Detour For Friends
Through the years we have had friends travel hundred and even thousands of miles to be with us in revivals all over the country. We have been overwhelmed by their kindness and we have mentioned that numerous times on Mile Markers.
We are thrilled when friends come to visit from a church in the area where we are preaching. Imagine how great it makes us feel when friends use their vacation time and spend money to drive or fly to see us several states away!
We are very seldom in a position to return that favor to friends. Often we are going right through cities and towns where good friends live and we do not even have time to shake and howdy for a few minutes. We zoom through with a wave and a text message. When we are passing by in the middle of the night, we skip the text message.😁
We live on a schedule and the road portion of that schedule usually must be kept down to the hour if not the minute in order for us to keep our commitments. There is only so much time between church services and the miles must be covered.
We always feel bad passing up friends. This fall we had an opportunity to correct a little of that. We had a pretty straight forward route between commitments and two extra days to get there. We figured that by adding about 200 miles to our trip, we could visit at least four sets of friends along the way.
Some friends were not free when we were passing through their town and a couple of friends had been exposed to COVID the day before and they thought it would be best to steer clear of them. We agreed.😁
We did get to eat lunch with Bro. Larry and Sis. Rose Landress and eat supper with Bro. Bruce and Sis. Priscilla Mayhan. We had a wonderful time with our friends and they all seemed happy we stopped.
I am sure that I will feel guilty the next time I zoom past friends that live close to our route, but at least I will know that I am making an effort!
I like this picture of KJo and Odie standing next to our Green Machine and Bro. Larry and Sis. Rose standing next to their green jeep.
The evening we met with the Mayhan's happened to be their 38th wedding anniversary! They have come to visit us a few times on their anniversary trip so I guess it was time we returned the favor!
Soon we were back on our route, zooming here and there with very few thoughts but reaching our destination. Yet our lives were and are a little richer because of time spent with friends. God gave us these friends and we are very thankful for His gift. Praise God for His abundant blessing of gracious people in our lives.
We are thankful that you join us here on Mile Markers too. Thank you for that. Have a great day.
