Hey, friends, COVID is not over yet!
I know that most states in the USA have relaxed most if not all restrictions and nearly 50% of American adults have had at least one shot of an approved vaccine, but COVID is not gone.
We have several friends that are nearing the finish line of a recent scrape with COVID and some friends that are right in the thick of it. We have a friend that is very critical at the moment and three young friends that are fighting serious cases.
Several youth camps and camp meetings that we know about have had outbreaks this summer. Large crowds, shaking hands, hugging necks, large altar services and packed fellowship halls for meals are probably perfectly horrible transmission routes for COVID.
Sickness has kept us home most of this time, but we have avoided a few large crowds at special meetings once we considered the danger. Are we operating in fear? No, we are trying to use good sense.
I have never in my life been so sick, walked so close to death and carried the lasting effects of a sickness like I have with COVID. I am determined to do my best NOT to get it again.
Hopefully, all three of us have some natural immunity since we have had it. All three of us gladly took a vaccine as soon as our age group was eligible and we have no regrets at this time. Yet, we are doing our best to be as careful as we can, like we have the whole time.
I realize we have been at this for nearly 18 months. I know that folks are tired of precautions and they wish this would go away. But wishing will not conquer COVID. Just because we are tired of all of this, does not make it go away.
God, help us to be careful, be mindful and be considerate of one another. If people around you want to take extra precautions, extend grace to them. We made need that same grace someday.
Like you, I have often gone to work sick in the past. I can not tell you how many times I preached with a fever. Those days are way behind us now. If we are sick, we should stay home. We can make it through this no matter how long it lasts by God's grace.
Thank you for praying for us. Let us continue to pray one for another. I appreciate you stopping by today.
