Revival in Pictures - Midway Assembly, St. Stephens, Alabama, 2012

I had my first gig as a guest blogger today over at the blog of Ashlee, Kari and Malachi Noe. They are super friends and excellent folks. Bebop on over and check it out HERE. It was a lot of fun. It is probably the beginning of great things... Tomorrow I may be writing for the Drudge Report!

We closed revival tonight (This is late Friday night) at Midway. Wow! What a revival! The altar services the last two nights have been incredible. We appreciate Pastor Lamar Chapman and his family and church. We have had a wonderful time. We have a bunch of random pictures of Midway folks and visitors below. I hope you enjoy.

We plan to set up the new tent for the first time tomorrow (Saturday) in Citronelle and I certainly desire your prayers. Please ask God to give us strength, wisdom and ingenuity that we need. If I have signal when I get there I will try to post more about our need of prayer for this and future tent revivals...

God bless,

Davy

Do You Know Jimmie Radcliffe?

Do You Know Jimmie Radcliffe?

We met Bro. Jimmie in January, 2011 when we arrived to preach our first revival at Hilldale Holiness Church for Pastor Nathan Conner in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I had known Bro. Jimmie's brothers and parents for quite a long time but our paths had never crossed.

By the end of the week we had several brand new good friends and Bro. Jimmie was one of them. He took an interest in us, our ministry and our upcoming Summer of Tent Revivals. He has been a great source of encouragement and blessing to us.

The 2009 24 ft. trailer that we used last summer originally belonged to Bro. Jimmie. We were only able to purchase it because he gave us such a tremendous deal on it. Last year would have been so different if we had not had that trailer. It carried the tent, chairs, platforms, carpet, tools and Mr. Cheap Jeep and it carried it all well!

Our first tent revival of 2011 was in June at Hilldale Holiness Church . That is Bro. Jimmie's home church. He worked so hard, along with all the other men of the church, on that first set up and went way beyond the call of duty. We used his tools, ladders, lights and so much more. Come to think of it, we are still using his lights...

He made a trip to Allentown last week and took that white 2009 trailer back to its new home in Oklahoma. That trip alone was a huge, huge help to me. I do not know how or when I could have made that trip myself.

He is also planning along with others to drive to Montana for the tent revival there in July. That is exciting to think about way back here in March!

Bro. Jimmie has called and text and emailed with encouragement and the promise of prayers through this whole experience. He has taken a personal interest in making sure we have what we need. I believe he would give his last ounce of strength to help somebody else.

Do you have the picture yet? I believe God placed Bro. Jimmie Radcliffe and many others like him for this particular time in our life. Bro. Jimmie seeks no limelight, he would want no applause and he desires no public credit, yet he certainly deserves much applause and credit. He has been my friend and I thank God for him.

Do You Know Bro. Jimmie Radcliffe? He is definitely worth getting to know...

"Do You Know (INSERT NAME HERE)?"

Several years ago while we were serving as a pastor in Wichita, Kansas, I sent Thanksgiving cards instead of Christmas cards one year. In the weeks leading up to that Thanksgiving I thought about many special people that God had brought into my life at strategic points. I sat down and wrote many of these people cards expressing my appreciation for them and the fact that they allowed God to use them to minister to me and my family.

It was amazing to me how many great men and women God had used to bring encouragement and blessings to us. So many had been instrumental in the discipleship process in our Christian experience. I literally wept and cried for hours over a period of weeks as I praised God for these individuals, ministries and families. I thought it proper to let them know exactly how they impacted my life and the life of my family. That is how I came to send Thanksgiving cards that year.

As a result of those cards I received several interesting phone calls, cards and letters in return. Most of the people that had affected me so much had no earthly idea that their actions spoke so clearly and dearly to me! They were just working for God, doing their duty and living their lives. But in the course of walking and talking their normal Christian lives they had touched me and my family more deeply than I could express.

This encouraged me even more to tell folks what a blessing they are to others as they live and minister for Christ. My expression of thankfulness may be just the thing somebody needs to keep right on doing what they are doing. The individuals doing the most good may not even know it.

I have been thinking about all of this again lately. I realized a few weeks ago that I have a platform in this blog to shout from the housetop. I can express my thankfulness for those that have impacted us and all of our MILLIONS of readers can know it.

So I am starting a new series on the blog that I am calling, "Do You Know (INSERT NAME HERE)?" I won't be able to be as personal as I would be in a letter or card addressed to an individual but there are a whole lot of super people out there that I would like for you to know. In fact we are meeting more great people all of the time. This will give me an opportunity to introduce to you or remind you of people we have known a long time and also great folks we have recently met.

I will start tomorrow with a person we have known for less than 18 months. We will see how it goes from there. I might do one a week or 10 in a row. It will depend on how the mood strikes me. Let me know what you think and feel free to chime in any time.

God bless you all...

Tent Revival Prep

We have had four services so far at Midway and it is building each and every service. Last night was powerful and I am sure it will be even better the rest of the week. We are having a great time with Bro. and Sis. Chapman and their church and family. I am sure we will have some more pictures to post before the week is over.

While in revival here at Midway we are continuing to prepare for our first tent revival of the season next week in Citronelle, Alabama. Bro. Templeton and Bro. Cunningham and their churches near Citronelle are looking forward to Tent Revival and we are all praying that God will give us a great move of His Spirit.

It is a little difficult to deal with some last minute details since we do not have a vehicle right now but we are doing the best we can. We are gathering the things we need and I am studying the directions for putting up the new tent. I am sure that by the end of September I will be very comfortable putting it up and taking it down but this first time is sure to be an adventure.

Miami Missionary Tent Company provides great instructions and a DVD but there is nothing like hands on experience. Each tent has it's own distinct features and personality, if you will. I am looking forward to pulling this tent out of the bags and getting to know it better. I hope to have everything measured and laid out, ready to go when the men arrive at 1:00 on Saturday. Once the stakes are in the ground we will pull the tent pieces out and try to put that thing in the air.

Please pray that all goes well. Pray for good weather Saturday and throughout the next week. We were under a tent 42 nights last year and only had a little rain in ONE service. We had rain and storms during the day and night but very little wind and rain during church. Whatever God does, we plan to give Him glory but we are asking for no rain and no high winds. Will you join us in prayer? Pray as well for the services.

Those services are what all of the hard work, blood sweat, tears and money spent are about. I am very excited about the opportunity to put the tent up and preach the gospel in several states again this year. My vision for these meetings is for the lost to be converted, the sick to be healed and the saints to be encouraged as they are saturated with a fresh outpouring of the Holy Ghost. We must have God move in those services!

When I conduct tent revivals I place heavy emphasis on the power of the Word and the moving of God’s Spirit. It has been my experience that in today’s world we often do not have 2-3 hours to reach people that come into our meetings.  The attention span of many in the world is very short and often they drift away while we go through the motions of having church.  I make an effort to give them the Word of God as early in the service as we can and allow the Holy Ghost to work in their hearts.

I believe that God will accomplish great things!  I am expecting our Awesome God to do Awesome things before our eyes! We intend to Pray like the success of the tent revival depends on God and to work like it depends on you. God bless you for joining us in prayer....

Midway Assembly near St. Stephens, Alabama - 2012

Travel day on Saturday was another light one. We left Allentown just before noon and even with a stop at Pilot Truck Stop for fuel and food we were at Midway about 2 1/2 - 3 hours later. They way we came is only about 85-90 miles but part of it was traffic lights and several miles was small roads.

The Midway church was having a wild game supper Saturday evening and we arrived just in time. They had turkey, rabbit, squirrel, deer, wild hog and maybe a few other things. It was all very good and we enjoyed it very much. It was nice of the folks to invite us to participate in their annual event.

Services yesterday were wonderful. Pastor Lamar Chapman says they have had a wonderful revival spirit for a few months and Sunday was no exception. Last year's revival here was tremendous and we are looking for great things again this year. Please pray that God will move among us this week.

Bro. Lamar and Sis. Tonya Chapman are super people. We love spending time with their family and have already had some great laughs together over the weekend. We love their family so much and thank God for their friendship.

Our phone service this week is almost NOT phone service. It really is awful peaceful out here in the country without the phones ringing and dinging all of the time. If you need to reach us you can try texting us or just leave a voice mail. We have internet on the laptop so you could send an email and we will see it eventually. As always you are welcome to leave comments on the blog...

God bless,

Davy
