My Birthday is Over

My 45th birthday is officially over. Yep, it is finished. My birthday started on January 16th in Neosho, Missouri and ended sometime Saturday morning April 7th on I-24 in Kentucky.

How did my birthday last nearly three months? It was pure discipline I say, pure discipline, master of the will and supreme self control.

Do you remember all the chocolate I received for my birthday? I had Hershey Drops from Odie, even more Hershey Drops from Kelly Jo, a huge Hershey bar from Bro. Ray Riggs, chocolate covered coffee beans fresh from Montana and the Metzgers, a chocolate ice cream cake from Bro. Link's church and probably a few other treats I have forgotten.

My 45th birthday ended Saturday morning while driving the BoggsMobile and eating the last few Hershey Drops. I rationed every one of those treats (except for the cake) and ate just a few bites of chocolate each day thus making my birthday last almost three months! You didn't know I had the willpower and self control did you?

But now it is over! All of the birthday chocolate is gone. Totally and completely gone!

The empty bags....

It is a good thing Odie bought me some more Hershey Drops the other day!!!

A Big Announcement..

We have a big announcement today. Not super duper big, but big enough...

Starting Saturday Kelly Jo and I are disappearing for about two weeks. Poof! Just like that, we are gone!

It may seem that sudden but actually this disappearance has been over a year in the planning.

Our phones will be turned off. That means no phone calls or texts. We may or may not have access to Internet or inclination to use the Internet so there may be no blogging either. I may have a few posts scheduled to go up in that time period and Odie may post some as well. Knowing Odie's track record with blogging I wouldn't count on a post every day but you might check in just in case...

Where are we going and what are we doing, you may ask? I will answer that with multiple choice and let you decide...

1. I am joining the circus so I can see how elephants really put up tents...

2. Meeting in an underground bunker working with the best and brightest minds on strategy for the re-elect Obama 2012 campaign...

3. Participating in a top secret space shuttle mission studying the effect of zero gravity and low earth orbit on fat people.

4. Interviewing hundreds of candidates as potential husbands for Odie. You mean you haven't seen our advertisements on Craigslist? They are in the barter section.

5. Filming our new hit reality show "Extreme Liposuction"...

6. Hiking the Appalachian trail from beginning to the end, Georgia to Maine.

7. Starring in a new exercise video with Richard Simmons.

8. We are being relocated by the Federal Witness Protection Program. In that case you may never hear from us again... (This one may be a little unbelievable. Where would they hide a guy my size..See option 1 above)

This is an open book quiz so feel free to post your answers here. You might even be able to come up with some more ideas.

Have a great day.

Travel Days - Tifton, GA to Evansville, IN

We left Tifton, Georgia early Friday morning and drove hard all day. We had the oil changed in the BoggsMobile at Speedco in Jackson, Georgia, filled up with diesel at a Flying J in Resaca, Georgia and stopped for the night at a Flying J in Oak Grove, Kentucky.

We ate a fine meal in the Denny's there with Bro. Jeffery and Sis. Rebecca Blankenship as they were passing through. Shortly after supper I gave up and fell into bed. I went out like a light and slept like a rock.

We had a little difficulty getting the bus and trailer out of the church parking lot in Tifton, Georgia Friday morning. I cleared everything with the BoggsMobile but nearly took out a huge post with the side of the trailer. I did NOT hit it but I was oh so close! It was a bad way to start a bad long day.

This is a picture of the GPS at the end of the day. I don't believe this gives the true time for the day because the GPS was turned off while the oil was being changed.

Saturday we started early and took the tent trailer to Salem, Kentucky. Pastor Phillip Sanders was kind enough to allow us to park it there a few weeks. We will be having our next tent revival near there in May so the location works out perfectly. Sis. Sanders had buiscits, gravy, eggs and bacon prepared so that worked perfectly too!

We arrived in Evansville, Indiana about 2:00, parked and set up and began revival that night. Total miles Saturday was about 200. We are very glad to be with Pastor John Eaton, his beautiful family and the Full Gospel Mission. We love coming here and love these folks.

Easter services were good and we enjoyed a meal with Bro. Eaton's extended family Sunday afternoon. The service Monday night was good too and we are looking for good things to come today and Wednesday. The Pentecostal Fire Youth Conference Is this weekend so we will close here Wednesday night.

I am sure we will have more pictures of revival later.

He Wouldn't Stay Dead - Easter Sunday 2012

I am reposting the Easter poem from last year. It is just that good. I hope you enjoy the poem and have a great resurrection Sunday. We will be spending the day in Evansville, Indiana with our friends at Full Gospel Mission.

Praise God for the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. We as Christians celebrate the fact that Christ arose every day of our Christian experience. Today, Easter or Resurrection Day, is a day of special remembrance of the momentous occasion when the Son of God, God in the flesh, Jesus Christ our Lord conquered death, hell and the grave! He died to pay the penalty for our sin and He rose again that we might have new life! Praise God He is Alive!

Below is a poem that I have quoted in my preaching for many, many years.  It was written by a Baptist preacher named Willard G. Thomas from Georgia. I heard him quote it in person long years ago. It spoke to me then and it speaks to me every time I think of it. I love this poem. I added the last stanza when I started quoting it myself.

May God bless you on this Easter. If you are not a Christian, may you be moved by the fact that Jesus Christ died for you and then got up out of the grave for you as well.

He Wouldn’t Stay Dead
by:Willard G. Thomas

They laid His body in Joseph’s new tomb
And filled His disciples with sorrow and gloom
They did not remember what He had said
That He would die, but He wouldn’t stay dead

Mary came at the break of day
And found the stone was rolled away
She saw an angel and in terror fled
And told His disciples that He didn’t stay dead

In that cold dark tomb He would not stay
He conquered death and walked away
And now that old grave has lost it’s fear and dread
He lives again! He wouldn’t stay dead

Full atonement and pardon were made
And forever the sin debt was marked fully paid
The price was His blood as it flowed crimson red
And I’m thankful today that He didn’t stay dead!

Let’s go to our churches and cry aloud
Let’s go to the marketplace and talk to the crowd
Let’s go to the mission fields that lie up ahead
And tell the whole world that He didn’t stay dead!

Because if Jesus Christ had only died
Then the gulf between us and God would still be wide
But thank God He did what He said
He got up out of the ground, He couldn’t stay dead!

Happy Easter From Hank

Happy Easter From Hank the Church Dog!

Looks like Hank won the big prize at the annual Easter egg hunt in West Plains, Missouri. With a nose like that it's no wonder he found the biggest egg! In fact, it looks like he found ALL the eggs!

Hope you have a great day tomorrow. Check back then for a post that is a tad more solid when it comes to the Bible. Lol
