Church Dedication Service Mt. Sinai Holiness Tabernacle

Saturday morning October 9 was the Church Dedication service at Mt. Sinai Holiness Tabernacle near Dothan, Alabama. Pastor Dewayne Watson and his small congregation started construction the third week of May in 2007 and just recently finished their building. It is a beautiful building! They have almost 11,000 sq. feet under roof including sanctuary, fellowship hall and Sunday school rooms. God has been faithful in helping them in the five years the church has been in existence. We had a great crowd with good response from the area churches and the local community.

Bro. Watson shared during the service that after they burned the note on the land they poured the footer the next day. They put over $324,000 into construction without any debt in just over 3 years of work. The last couple of weeks before moving in the new church an individual loaned them $12,000 that they borrowed for the purpose and that is the only debt they have. It is absolutely amazing!

Please pray that Mt. Sinai will be used of God as long as He allows the church to remain!

Bond Campmeeting

Kelly Jo and I were able to attend Bond Campmeeting in Bond, Kentucky on Wednesday and Thursday and it was super good. We were privileged to hear our Pastor, Bro. Bennie Sutherland and several other good men of God. The preaching was timely and God sent and we thank God for it.

We have been going to Bond Meeting since 1988 and it feels very much like home. There's no pressure on us there and we can relax and worship God just like we can at Dryden Rd. The meeting was very refreshing. It was so very good to see so many folks from Bond and around the country.

Since the BoggsMobile is in California Bro. Brent and Sis. Teresa Gabbard allowed us to move into their home during our stay. We appreciate their hospitality and friendship.

We are now in Alabama and we will give you and update later in the weekend.

Pastor Appreciation

Sunday was Pastor Appreciation Day at Amazing Grace Tabernacle in Atwater, California. We were so glad to be a small part of it. We love Pastor Jared Burris and his family and his church obviously does too. They wanted to surprise him and by the look on his face I would say they did it.

Praise God for Pastor Jared Burris and all good pastors.

At Least I'm NOT Pastoring a Church

Kelly Jo and I ran into Hanford this afternoon to grab a few things before we fly to Kentucky early tomorrow morning. Mr Cheap Jeep started making a bad noise and before you know it we are sitting beside the road with the idler pulley busted and the serpentine belt ruined. The pulley was scheduled to be replaced next week but I guess it couldn't wait.

Bro. Goldsmith from Riverdale is chasing parts for us and should have us back on the road in a little while. This will make the 3rd serpentine belt I've bought for Mr. Jeep in 15 months. The 1st was a routine replacement. The 2nd was in January when the new one bit the dust with the alternator. Now number 3!

We had planned on getting to bed early tonight but that looks impossible now. I guess I could sit down and cry but there is a great big bright spot...

AT LEAST I'M NOT PASTORING A CHURCH! Praise the Lord!!

Thanks for praying for us.

Big Boy in California!

Everybody knows that when we are close to home we start looking for a Frisch's Big Boy. It is one of those hometown things that you can't explain to somebody from the "outside." It is probably not the greatest food in the world but it's OUR food. It's where families and young folks went to eat after church all of our lives. You know what I mean?

We were almost to Morro Bay the other day when we saw a Big Boy billboard just as pretty as you please. It was for Bob's Big Boy! Years ago there were Big Boy franchises by several different names. Frisch's, Shoney's, Kip's and Bob's are just a few of the many names Big Boy flew under.

Most dropped the Big Boy banner over the years but evidently Bob's Big Boy has been going strong in southern California and opened this store in Morro Bay last year. We had to try it out.

We had been to Kip's 20 years ago in Texas so we knew that some places put thousand island on the Big Boy sandwich in place of tartar sauce so we asked about that. They actually make it three different ways here. This is what they called each style of Big Boy.
1. Ohio style: Tartar Sauce
2. Michigan style: Thousand Island
3. California style: Red Relish & Mayo

KJ & Odie had the Ohio style of course but I stepped out on the wild side and ordered it California style. It was actually quite good. The salad bar was similar, the fries were crispier with a little of the potato skin left on them and they did not have crushed ice which is mandatory for Frisch's. Also the Big Boy outside didn't have tartar sauce dripping off the hamburger and his shoes were turquoise instead of black and white.

One other thing that my brother Steve and his family will be glad to know. Odie ordered vanilla Coke and the waitress said, "Would vanilla Pepsi be ok?". A Big Boy with Pepsi products? Wow! Now that is different!

We enjoyed our visit and the food. It really made us anxious to get back home!

That's the food report for the day.
