Revival in Riverdale, California

We are back in Riverdale, California! This is the place we recorded our "Havin' Church" CD last year. It is hard to believe a year has passed already but it is true. We recorded on October 15th and received the finished CDs around the end of February. You can find more information about that and our other CDs HERE

We will always have fond memories of the great people here. Pastor and Sis. Spencer have been so good to us in the years we have known them. Last year during the recording process they went out of their way to make it easy for us. The church folks jumped in and worked so hard and we will forever be grateful. We have made friends for life and we are always thankful for more friends.

But we're not here to record this year, we are here to have revival! We only have a short time to stay so we have jumped right in to worship, sing, shout, preach and pray. Both services yesterday were great with wonderful response in the altar service. I love it when people listen to the word then go to the altar and allow God to work His Word into their hearts. That is key to really having revival.

We sure came on the right Sunday to Riverdale. The church was celebrating Sis. Spencer's 73rd birthday with a great dinner on Sunday. Both the dinner and dessert were outstanding. We are so glad we were able to take part in the celebration. The first several pictures below were taken at the dinner.

We are expecting more great things this week from the Lord. Thanks for all your prayers.

God bless,

Davy

Odie has to catch a ride up the stairs at the "Upper Room" fellowship hall. It's quite a ride.

Kelly Jo and The Grizzly Bear

Kelly Jo's Friend

If you have been reading very long you know that Kelly Jo loves animals. She loves snakes, spiders, birds, walking sticks and the list goes on and on. She doesn't care much for cats without sweet and sour sauce but I'll save that for a later post..

She really has a fascination with bears, especially Grizzlies. Her fascination is rather morbid though. She is sure that one day when it comes her time to die or maybe even before, she will be mauled and at least partially eaten by a Grizzly Bear. I told you it was morbid.

Although she is filled with this fear she can't get enough of them. She loves to see pictures and learn all she can about her friend the Grizzly. She has looked long and hard for them in Yellowstone and Glacier National Park but to no avail. We have driven hours over the back roads of Montana without even a glimpse of a Grizzly. We have been to places where others have seen them repeatedly but as soon as Kelly Jo gets near they go into hiding. She is sure this does not bode well for the future.. She knows that they are watching her even though she cannot see them...

When she finds a friendly Grizzly like this one in the Burris home she spends as much time getting acquainted as possible. She usually sits on the couch in front of it, rubs its fur and admires its size and appreciates its friendly disposition.

She has no fear at all of this bear...Kelly Jo knows that no harm can come to her from this bear.. She knows it is long dead and completely harmless.. But she still sleeps with the door locked ... just in case!

More Amazing Grace Tabernacle Pictures

Here are a few more pictures from revival at Amazing Grace Tabernacle in Atwater, California. We have had a wonderful time this week. We love Bro. Jared Burris and his great church.

Please pray for Bro. Jared and his folks. They worship in a rented building and have some opportunities on the horizon to buy a place to worship. They desire the leading of the Lord so add them to your prayer list if you will. There is one place that would be awesome if it would come through. It is a great location and great facility. God knows the future and what they need so may His will be done.

These last two pictures were taken with different cameras. One was taken with my iPhone 4 and the other with Odie's iPhone 4S. Can you tell which is which?

Jantz Cafe & Bakery

We love to visit Jantz Cafe & Bakery in Atwater, California. They serve great breakfast, great soups and great sandwiches. Thursday is Cheeseburger Chowder day so that's where we ate lunch yesterday. I tried their new Rueben sandwhich and it was delicious as well. I ordered it without the rye bread and added the all you can eat soup for a wonderful meal.

Kelly Jo and Odie like their Chicken Salad Sandwhich so that is what they had. It was good. (I know because I ate half of Odie's. I love when she gets full fast!) KJ had potato salad and Odie had the soup.

We do love Jantz but the prices have started creeping up pretty high the last few years. We spent $33 plus tip and didn't eat any of their wonderful desserts. That's a little high for soup and sandwiches in my book so we probably would not go often if we lived here. It is very good for a special treat though. The food is always very fresh and well prepared and the people are nice too.

Revival is going well. We had a great response in the altar tonight and I appreciate that. There's no telling what the Lord may do tonight at Amazing Grace Tabernacle. I can hardly wait for church time. Thanks for all your prayers for us. God bless you every one.

Odie Buys an iPhone

Odie buying her first Real phone!

Odie has finally made the move to an iPhone! She bought an iPhone 4S last week. She made up her mind to buy one in Iowa but nobody had one. She called all over southern Ohio thinking she could pick one up the few hours we we going to be there before flying out. She found none around home. She called the Walmarts and AT&T stores in Montana with no success.

When we arrived in Montana Bro. Nathan Jeffreys told her that Best Buy had plenty. (Bro. Nathan is a member of the Best Buy Geek Squad) We went in on Monday and finally bought one. As a bonus, there is no sales tax in Montana so she saved some money there. She is so happy to have it.

Her first smart phone was a Blackberry Storm (Four in one year) then a Droid X that lasted one year. I kept trying to convince her to buy a real phone and now she is so glad she did. The camera is really good. I took some pictures with it right along side my iPhone 4 and her pictures were very noticeably better. It is faster as well and has some great new features. We hear that some people are having trouble with the batteries but hers seems to be OK.

She also switched from Verizon to AT&T and joined our family plan so she will save quite a bit of money as well. That is always a good thing. Her number stays the same so if you have her number you can reach her as normal. She is covered by our unlimited texting and calls to and from mobile phones so call and text away!

Welcome, Odie, to the iPhone family. It's about time! Lol

Pastor Anthony Munoz - Stanford Medical Center

On Tuesday Pastor Burris and I drove over to Stanford, California to see Pastor Anthony Munoz and his wife, Sis. Rose. Bro. Anthony is battling cancer for the second time and is in a very critical phase of his treatment at Stanford Medical Center.

I cannot begin to comprehend all the process but this is how I understand it. They have given Bro. Anthony a lethal dose of Chemo to burn all the bone marrow out of his body. Today they will transplant the stem cells that were taken from him previously. If all goes well this will rid his body of all the cancer.

Please pray that Bro. Anthony's body will respond properly and that he will have no side effects. Pray for the whole family that God will strengthen them physically, emotionally and spiritually. I know God is able to help them through this.

These are pictures that Bro. Anthony has drawn on the whiteboard in his room the last few days. Praise God for a sense of humor on dark days.
